Italy will debut special scarlet kits in their Six Nations clash with France in Lille, paying tribute to Giuseppe Garibaldi and his loyal volunteers known as "redshirts" who fought during Italy's 19th-century unification.
The new "Garibaldi Red" jerseys were unveiled at Quarto dei Mille near Genoa, where Garibaldi launched the "Expedition of the Thousand" in 1860. Both Italy's men's and women's teams will wear the special jerseys against France, continuing the tradition of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy contested between these nations.
