Earthquakes Open Season With 3-0 Win Over Sporting KC

Daniel Munie scored twice and Preston Judd added a goal as the San Jose Earthquakes defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-0 in their MLS season opener on Saturday night.

Munie and Judd each scored four minutes apart just before halftime, with Munie finding the net in the 42nd minute and Judd adding another in stoppage time. Munie completed his brace in the 54th minute to seal the victory for San Jose.

The Earthquakes dominated statistically, outshooting Sporting KC 18-7 and registering 15 corner kicks to three for SKC. Sporting KC enters the 2026 season following a major overhaul with new general manager David Lee and head coach Rafaël Wicky.
