Barcelona map out fan-favourite midfielder’s comeback plan

According to MARCA, Barcelona have already outlined a provisional timeline for Gavi’s comeback.

While no final date has been locked in, internal discussions suggest the aim is to reintegrate him fully into the squad within the next two weeks.

This means if everything progresses smoothly, he could feature briefly before the upcoming international break.

Practising caution

Understandably, Barcelona are being extremely cautious, and the medical team is reviewing his condition daily so that no risks will be taken.

The club has made it clear that the timeframe is flexible and depends entirely on how Gavi responds physically in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick will ultimately decide how the return is handled on the pitch, but what is certain is that the approach will be gradual.

There will be no sudden jump in minutes. Instead, Gavi’s involvement will increase step by step, allowing him to regain rhythm without putting unnecessary strain on his knee.

So far this season, the midfielder has featured only twice in La Liga, during the opening two matchdays against Mallorca and Levante back in August. Since then, his recovery process has been carefully structured.

Encouragingly, Gavi has already begun participating in selected group training sessions

At this stage, he joins certain drills but continues alternating between team work and individual rehabilitation.

His programme remains highly personalised, with detailed gym sessions designed to rebuild strength and stability.

It must be remembered that the 21-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery at the end of September after suffering a tear in his medial meniscus.

At the time, doctors estimated a recovery period of four to five months. That timeline has now elapsed, which explains why Barcelona are cautiously accelerating his reintegration.

For Flick, Gavi’s return could prove vital during the decisive stretch of the season, as his intensity, pressing, and competitive edge add balance to Barcelona’s midfield structure.

Despite that, the priority is patience first, impact later.
