Noah Cates and a shootout goal from Matvei Michkov powered the Flyers past Toronto. Auston Matthews scored in the shootout for the Leafs, but Toronto lost their fourth straight game. Flyers goalie Dan Vladar stopped 29 shots.
William Nylander also scored for Toronto, but leading scorer Travis Konecny missed the game with an injury. Toronto head coach Craig Berube paired Matthews and Nylander for the first time, though Matthews has gone eight games without a goal. The Flyers host Utah on Thursday.
