McLaughlin Claims Pole at St. Petersburg IndyCar Opener

Scott McLaughlin secured the pole position for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, starting the IndyCar season opener from the No. 1 spot.

McLaughlin turned a lap of 1:00.5426 at 107.032 mph to top the 14-turn course, earning the starting spot for his Team Penske machine. The 2022 St. Petersburg winner praised his new engineer, Raul Prados, calling the result "bloody good."

McLaughlin will start alongside Marcus Ericsson, with rookie Dennis Hauger securing the third spot on the grid.
