The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) has been directed to cease using the terms 'India' or 'Indian' in its name and activities, as the government body is not officially recognized as a National Sports Federation (NSF). Similar notices have been sent to other sports organizations including the Women's Football Federation of India and the Indian Body Builders' Federation.
DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan confirmed receiving the letter and requested NSF status for the organization, which has organized international tournaments despite lacking BCCI recognition. The directive comes as the National Sports Governance Act is now in effect, requiring all sports bodies to seek recognition from the National Sports Board, which is yet to be established.
