Capitals Hold Off Knights' Comeback

Pierre-Luc Dubois had two goals and an assist to lead the Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the Golden Knights on Friday night.

Washington's Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice and added an assist as all three Capitals goals came in the second period. Jakob Chychrun added his 22nd goal of the season to extend the lead. The Golden Knights' Braeden Bowman and Tomas Hertl scored in the third period, cutting the deficit to one, but couldn't complete the comeback.

The win moves the Capitals within two points of the New York Islanders for third place in the Metropolitan Division and within two of Boston for the Eastern Conference's second wild card. Washington is 2-0 since the Olympic break and has won six of its last seven games. The Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights had a three-game winning streak snapped despite the return of five Olympians who missed their previous contest.
