Jack Doohan revealed in the Netflix series "Drive to Survive" that he received multiple death‑threatening emails and witnessed armed men during the Miami Grand Prix, prompting him to call a police escort. The Australian driver described the atmosphere as "pretty heavy stuff" and said the threats were aimed at ending his career if he stayed in the car.
Following the race, Alpine replaced Doohan with Franco Colapinto and he was dropped from the team. Doohan is now a reserve driver for Haas and has publicly accused online abuse from Argentine fans after Colapinto’s arrival.
