Teen Ref Makes Football History At 16

Sixteen-year-old RJ from Taunton has been named Somerset Youth Referee of the year for his outstanding contribution to youth football.

Starting at just 14 years old, RJ now regularly officiates both youth and adult football matches across Somerset. The passionate footballer took up refereeing to become more involved in the game and has developed the confidence and discipline needed to handle difficult situations on the pitch.

According to Somerset FA, it's unusual for a 16-year-old to referee adult games, making RJ's achievement particularly unique. His PE teacher describes him as a confident pupil who has helped coach and referee numerous games at his school.
