Bears' Dalman Retires at 27 After 5 NFL Seasons

Chicago Bears Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman has reportedly informed the team of his retirement at just 27 years old, just one year after signing a three-year, $42 million contract.

The 27-year-old offensive lineman made the sudden decision to retire despite being in the prime of his career. Dalman joined the Bears last March as a key offseason acquisition that helped transform the team from worst to first in the NFC North.

After four seasons with the Falcons and one with the Bears, Dalman leaves the NFL with a Pro Bowl selection to his name. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news, calling it a "massive surprise" considering Dalman's age, contract, and on-field excellence.
