WNBA Union Sends New Offer to League

The WNBA players' union sent a counterproposal to the league Friday night for a new collective bargaining agreement, including concessions on revenue sharing and housing.

The union is asking for 26% of gross revenue and a salary cap around $9.5 million in the first year. The proposal also includes a revised housing offer, requiring teams to provide housing for all players in the early years, but only for those making less than 75% of the maximum salary in later years.

The sides aim to finalize a deal by March 10 to start the season on time. If agreed upon, an expansion draft for the new franchises in Portland and Toronto would occur in early April, followed by free agency and training camps.
