Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has waxed lyrical about utility player Kamogelo Sebelebele after his display against Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby over the weekend.

The 23-year-old right winger, who was snapped from TS Galaxy at the beginning of the season, was named man of the match while operating as a right-back.

Despite initial hesitation to comment about the player's contribution, Ouaddou says he likes Sebelebele's versatility, hard work, and selflessness, which makes him a great asset for the team.

“I don't like to talk too much on the individualities of the players because I usually say that the individual project has to be at the service of the collective project in the club. But I will answer to you [media] because you asked me that question,” said the Bucs mentor.

"First of all, I want to give credit to all the boys and not only Mike. Mike is part of a collective project and inside this collective project he did a fantastic performance. We knew that he can play these two positions. Either you play him as a right-back, either you play him higher.

"What I like in that player [is that] he always thinks for the team, he doesn't have individual goals, he thinks for the team, he's fighting for the team whatever the position that you give him - he's a team player and I'm very happy to have such a player in my team because he's working hard, he's giving his best like all the players today [Saturday].

"They played with heart and I told them before this Soweto derby that we made the game plan but today it's more than tactics, it's more than technique, this game you have to play it with heart, you have to play it with the spirit and today it's what they did and I hope they will continue to do so until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Pirates will be looking to tighten their grip on the top spot when they visit Polokwane City in their next Betway Premiership outing on Wednesday.
