Clemson softball dominates No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs for run-rule win

Clemsonsoftball stayed red-hot Wednesday night, rolling past No. 11 Georgia 10-1 in run-rule fashion at Jack Turner Stadium. The win marked the program’s first-ever victory at Georgia’s home field and its third ranked win of the season.

The Tigers have now won five straight after opening the year 6-5, outscoring opponents 37-1 during the streak. Through 16 games, Clemson holds a 92-56 scoring advantage and continues to trend upward on both sides of the ball.

Jamison Brockenbrough set the tone immediately with a leadoff double in the first, and true freshman Mac Pavese followed by crushing the first pitch she saw over the wall for a two-run homer in her home state. Georgia answered with a run after loading the bases, but Manness limited the damage and kept the Bulldogs from building momentum.

Clemson added another run in the second to make it 3-1 before both teams went quiet over the next two innings. The Tigers then broke it open in the fifth. Macey Cintron sparked the frame with a single, Kylee Johnson doubled to the wall, and Brockenbrough delivered again with a two-run double. Julia Knowler brought home another run, and Marian Collins capped the five-run surge with her fourth homer of the season, sending the Clemson dugout into celebration.

Johnson added her first home run of the year in the sixth to stretch the lead to 10-1 and secure the run-rule.

In the circle, Manness turned in another steady outing, allowing just one run over six innings while striking out eight. Pavese, Brockenbrough and Johnson each collected two hits, and Clemson’s balanced offense continued to show growth as the team builds momentum heading back to McWhorter Stadium this weekend.
