While the Las Vegas Raiders continue to say they want and expect Maxx Crosby to be a part of the team moving forward, the reality the speculation isn’t going away.

And it won’t until Crosby himself declares it a moot point. Interestingly, we may have gotten a clue why Crosby hasn’t point-bank publicly said anything about his exact desires, whether he wants to stay in Las Vegas or be traded.

This week, at the NFL Combine, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Media suggested that Crosby might not be saying anything because he doesn’t know what he wants. Rapoport went on to suggest Crosby may want to see what the Raiders do in free agency to see just how competitive they can be before making a decision.

It makes some sense. Crosby is recovering from a knee surgery and isn’t yet fully healthy and with the draft two months away, there is no immediate deadline for this situation to end.

Comments from Las Vegas general manager John Spytek on Tuesday may jibe with this line of thinking from Rapoport. Spytek said he is in constant communication with Crosby and said he is comfortable where Crosby’s mindset is.

This is just speculation, but perhaps Spytek told Crosby their plan to improve this offseason and asked him to see it play out before making a decision.

Whatever the case, the idea that Crosby still doesn’t know what he wants to do is certainly a wrinkle in this ongoing saga.
