McCarthy Explains On-Field Curse With Rodgers

Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy addressed his on-field cursing incident with quarterback Aaron Rodgers during Thursday night's loss to Cleveland, saying the heated exchange was a result of competition.

During Pittsburgh's 27-24 loss to the Browns, the game broadcast captured Rodgers yelling at McCarthy, who reportedly responded by calling his quarterback a "f------ a------." In his postgame press conference, McCarthy explained, "Communication, sometimes, is not the best choice of words, but everybody's competing on the field." sweetbonan.org

McCarthy acknowledged that negative communication is regrettable, stating, "Any negative communication on my part, I wish I wouldn't have used those words." The two share a prior coaching relationship, as McCarthy was Rodgers' head coach with the Green Bay Packers from 2006-18. Despite the incident, Rodgers had a solid statistical performance with 299 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss.
