Denisov had previously won relay gold for Russia at the Junior World Championships in February 2022, just before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. FIS recently updated guidelines for Russian and Belarusian participation for the 2026/27 season, with 30 total names on the neutral list (26 from Russia). Notably, Savely Korostelev, who competed in World Cup last season and achieved top-five results at the Olympics, is not included on the list.
