Spanish Mountaineers Hurt in Peru

Three Spanish mountaineers suffered an accident while climbing Jirishanca (6,094m) in Peru's Cordillera Huayhuash.

The Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing (FEDME) confirmed on Sunday that three of its mountaineers - Iker Madoz, Ibon Mendia, and Joan Domingo - were involved in an accident on the Nevado Jirishanca. The trio is now under observation at a hospital in Huaraz, Peru, where they are resting after receiving assistance from Peruvian authorities, the Peruvian Mountain Guides Association, and supervision from expedition doctor Mario Benito. hilogame.news

The incident occurred while the team was on a technical climbing expedition in the challenging Cordillera Huayhuash range. Iker Madoz recently took over leadership of the Spanish mountaineering team from Mikel Zabalza, focusing on training the country's top talent in some of the world's most demanding alpine environments.
