Channel 5 Takes Commonwealth Highlights

Channel 5 has agreed to show daily highlights from the Commonwealth Games this summer after the BBC ended its 72-year coverage of the event.

The BBC has decided against broadcasting any coverage of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year, ending a 72-year run. TNT Sports secured live rights for the Games last year by outbidding the BBC, which declined the opportunity to take a highlights package following talks with TNT. afrikasportnews.co.za

The corporation's decision was reportedly sparked by poor viewing figures for previous Games coverage. Channel 5 will now provide viewers with daily highlights programs from the event.
