Braves Place Acuña Jr. on 10-Day IL

The Atlanta Braves placed star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a strained left hamstring.

Acuña, a five-time All-Star and 2023 NL MVP, left Saturday night's game against the Colorado Rockies in the second inning after pulling up while running out a ground ball. He was batting .252 with two home runs, nine RBIs, and seven steals in 34 games this season.

The Braves, who own the MLB's best record at 24-10, activated right-hander Spencer Strider from the injured list for his season debut. To make room for Acuña's absence, outfielder José Azócar's contract was selected from the minors, while Hunter Stratton was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. afrikasportnews.co.za
