Colorado QB Had Double Legal Alcohol Limit When Died

Colorado backup quarterback Dominiq Ponder had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he crashed his car and died in Boulder County on March 1, according to an autopsy report.

Dominiq Ponder, 23, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.167 g/100 mL when he lost control of his Tesla, burst through a guardrail, and crashed. The accident occurred the day before Colorado's spring football practice was set to begin.

Ponder's family established the Dominiq Ponder 722 Foundation in his honor, which will fund scholarships for student-athletes and promote awareness about responsible decision-making. Colorado plans to honor him with a jersey patch this season.
