Capitals Lose 8-1 to Rangers, Playoff Hopes Dim

The Washington Capitals suffered a crushing 8-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Sunday, severely damaging their playoff chances.

Charlie Lindgren allowed eight goals on 32 shots as the Capitals' defense collapsed, leaving them three points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, and Philadelphia Flyers with only four games remaining. Connor McMichael scored Washington's lone goal, while Conor Sheary, Mika Zibanejad, Will Cuylle, Adam Fox, Adam Sykora, and Vincent Trocheck scored for the Rangers. Igor Shesterkin made 20 saves in the win.
