NFL Projects Lions-Commanders LaPorta Trade

NFL.com projects a potential 'win-win' trade between the Lions and Commanders involving tight end Sam LaPorta.

According to NFL.com's Eric Edholm, the Lions could send LaPorta, their first-round pick (No. 17), and a sixth-rounder (No. 205) to Washington in exchange for the Commanders' No. 7 overall pick, a 2027 third-round selection, and tight end Bin Sinnott.

Edholm acknowledges LaPorta likely won't be traded due to his importance to Detroit's offense, but notes financial considerations as the Lions face extensions for multiple key players. The Commanders might pursue LaPorta due to offensive coordinator David Blough's familiarity with him, while Detroit could use the higher pick to address their need at left tackle.
