U.S. Falls 2-0 to Portugal in World Cup Friendly

The U.S. men’s national team lost 2-0 to Portugal in an Atlanta friendly, ending its roster evaluation before the World Cup roster announcement on May 26.

Portugal opened the scoring with Francisco Trincao in the 37th minute, followed by Joao Felix in the 59th. The U.S. had 12 shots to Portugal’s 11, but missed key chances from Antonee Robinson and Malik Tillman.

The U.S. will not play again before coach Mauricio Pochettino announces the roster on May 26, then face Senegal on May 31 and Germany on June 6. Group D action starts June 12 against Paraguay.
