Penguins rout Islanders 8-3, leapfrog into second place

Anthony Mantha had two goals and an assist as the Penguins beat the Islanders 8-3, moving into second place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Penguins trailed 3-1 midway through the second period but scored four times in less than six and a half minutes to take control. Anthony Mantha finished with two goals and an assist, while Rickard Rakell added a pair of goals.

The win jumps Pittsburgh to 90 points, one ahead of the Islanders at 89, and places them second in the Metropolitan Division with eight games remaining. Penguins will face the Detroit Red Wings at home on Tuesday, while the Islanders head to Buffalo to play the Sabres.
