Sale Signs $57M Braves Extension

Nine-time All-Star Chris Sale has agreed to a one-year, $27 million contract extension with the Atlanta Braves that includes a $30 million club option for 2028.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the 36-year-old Sale was set to hit free agency after this season but will remain in Atlanta on what is likely his final contract before retirement. This move comes as the Braves address concerns about their pitching rotation beyond 2026.

The extension gives the Braves three key pitchers locked up through 2027, joining Spencer Strider and Spencer Schwellenbach. Sale has been a clubhouse leader and the top arm in Atlanta's rotation since joining the team.
