Former Steelers DB Wagner Dies at 76

Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Mike Wagner, a key part of the team's Steel Curtain dynasty, has died at 76, the franchise announced Wednesday.

Wagner played a significant role in the Steelers' success during the 1970s, recording interceptions in the team's first two Super Bowl victories. He was part of four Super Bowl-winning teams and had 36 interceptions and two Pro Bowl nods during his 10-season career with the franchise.

Originally drafted in the 11th round in 1971, Wagner overcame modest beginnings to become a starting safety as a rookie. His game-sealing interception in Super Bowl IX and another key pick in Super Bowl X were pivotal moments in the Steelers' championship runs.
