Walker Buehler, who pitched for the Dodgers from 2017-24, turned down a $20 million offer from Los Angeles before joining Boston and later Philadelphia. The right-hander had a 3.27 ERA with the Dodgers but struggled with Boston (5.45 ERA) before improving with Philadelphia (0.66 ERA in 3 appearances).
The Padres, dealing with pitching losses this offseason, have re-signed Michael King but lost Dylan Cease and Yu Darvish. Buehler has a chance to re-establish himself as a proven MLB starter if he makes the Padres' Opening Day rotation.
