Jones: Pickens Could Stay With Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism that wide receiver George Pickens could remain with the team long-term despite his current one-year franchise tag deal.

Jones stated during a Tuesday news conference that Pickens is a 'valued part of our aspirations and potential success.' The Cowboys announced during the draft that they would not negotiate a long-term deal with Pickens, who signed a one-year, fully guaranteed $27.3 million franchise tag on April 29 and is scheduled to become a free agent in March.

Jones acknowledged the 'uncommon tension' in the NFL between players seeking life-changing contracts and teams wanting to delay such commitments. Pickens had a career year with the Cowboys after being traded from the Steelers last season, recording 93 receptions for 1,429 yards. wlop.pl
