Steinbach Powers Washington Over Rutgers

German forward Hannes Steinbach recorded a 24-point, 16-rebound double-double to lead Washington to a 79-72 victory over Rutgers on Tuesday night.

Steinbach, who tied for second in Division I with his 17th double-double of the season, shot 9-of-13 from the field and made 6 of 7 free throws. The Huskies (14-14, 6-11 Big Ten) took the lead for good early in the game and built an 18-point advantage before Rutgers (11-17, 4-13) made a late push.

Wesley Yates III added 19 points and seven assists for Washington, while Lino Mark led Rutgers with 18 points. The victory marked Washington's first-ever win at Rutgers. Washington hosts Wisconsin on Saturday, while Rutgers visits Maryland on Sunday.
