China to Host 2027 World Junior Squash Championships as India’s Next Generation Eyes the Spotlight

The World Squash Federation has officially announced that Chengdu, China will host the 2027 World Junior Squash Championships. This announcement has instantly turned the spotlight onto India’s rising generation of elite squash talent.

Recently in the 2026 edition, Anahat Singh etched her name in history by becoming the first Indian to be crowned the World Junior Champion.

Now as she ages out of the junior circuit by the 2027 edition, a highly capable group of young prodigies is prepared to spearhead the Indian contingent.

The men’s team will look towards the national top-ranked junior, including Yusha Nafees and Aryaveer Dewan, both of whom have gained experience at the recently concluded championships in Canada and won bronze in the team events. They will be closely supported by the under-19 standouts, including Purav Rambhia and Gurveer Singh.

On the women’s side, the spotlight will shift onto India’s next brightest stars, including Rudra Singh, Anika Dubey, and Saanvi Kalanki, who have delivered excellent performances on the world stage.

They are backed by domestic preparation, and will carry India’s momentum into Chengdu, leveraging the tournament as a vital developmental runway ahead of squash’s historic maiden appearance at the LA28 Olympic Games.
