Suryakumar Yadav endured a disappointing IPL 2026 season for Mumbai Indians, leading to questions about his long-term role in the franchise. The star batter struggled for consistency and failed to make a major impact in several important matches.

He scored 270 runs in 13 innings at an average of 20.77 and a strike rate of 147.54. His best performances came against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), where he scored 51 and 60 respectively. However, he managed only two half-centuries throughout the season.

Apart from his two fifties, his 2026 campaign was filled with low scores, including a golden duck against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 10. His poor form played a part in Mumbai Indians' disappointing season.

Ravichandran Ashwin Backs Suryakumar Yadav After T20I Snub

Ravichandran Ashwin has come out in support of Suryakumar Yadav following his removal from India's T20I setup. The veteran spinner believes Suryakumar's leadership during India's T20 World Cup-winning campaign was not given enough recognition by the selectors.

"He didn't have the greatest of World Cups as a batter, but surely, just like everyone else in the team - the coach, the vice-captain, the best-performing batter, the best-performing bowler - he's also been the best-performing skipper, right? He's played his part."

Ashwin's comments came after the selectors replaced Suryakumar Yadav with Shreyas Iyer in the T20I side. The decision also saw Suryakumar lose his leadership role and his place in the squad, leaving him with a major challenge to revive his international career.

Pakistan cricket team are set to receive a massive jolt after their 2-0 Test series humiliation against Bangladesh last month. It was the second consecutive whitewash suffered by Pakistan at the hand of Bangladesh and they are currently wallowing at 8th place on the World Test Championships (WTC) 2025-27 Points Table. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and country’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is set to make major changes in the aftermath of the loss.

According to media reports, Naqvi is set to axe Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood and the head coach from the longest format of the game – Sarfaraz Ahmed – after the series defeat against Bangladesh. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz had taken charge of the Test side in place of Mike Hesson, who is white ball team’s coach, recently.

The reports add that PCB are considering roping in Pakistan legends Younis Khan and Muhammad Hafeez to replace Sarfaraz and take up major roles in the national team set up. “I can confirm that Younis Khan and Muhammad Hafeez have both had talks with PCB officials about joining the board in key positions. But things have yet to be finalised,” a PCB source was quoted as saying to PTI.

The changes are being made as Naqvi has demanded complete change in Pakistan team’s Test out fit after disappointing results in WTC 2025-27 season so far. Pakistan have only won one Test and lost 3 out of 4 and are only above ninth and last placed West Indies in the Points Table.

“There is a proposal to remove Sarfaraz as head coach and hand him back the responsibility of managing the national under-19 and A sides,” the source told PTI news agency.

Along with Sarfaraz, Pakistan’s 36-year-old Test captain Shan Masood is also set to sacked from his role. Masood has a modest average of 30.49 from 46 Tests while scoring 2653 runs with 6 hundreds and 14 fifties so far. He has only managed to win 4 Test in 16 games in charge and suffered 12 losses during his tenure.

The Test captain has reportedly asked for more time to prove himself and a chance to lead the side in away Test series against West Indies and England this year. Pakistan will begin their first Test against West Indies at the Brian Lara Academy on July 25 next month.

Sarfaraz will be removed as head coach as soon as Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB reached an agreement with former captain Younis Khan to take up the role. Younis scored 10099 runs in his 118-Test career for Pakistan at an average of 52.05 with 34 centuries and 33 fifties to his name.

In the one-off Test match against Team India, Afghanistan was bowled out on 152 runs in 58.4 overs on Day 3 at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Nangeyalia Kharote stayed unbeaten on one run in 10 balls, whereas Ziaur Rahman was dismissed on six runs in three balls, which included a maximum.

Facing 135 deliveries, Rahmat Shah smashed 60 runs, laced with nine boundaries and a maximum. Mohammad Saleem`s innings ended with a three-ball duck.

Earlier in the day, Azmatullah Omarzai was dismissed on a 10-ball duck. Sharafuddin Ashraf also managed to register 11 runs in 32 balls, with the help of two boundaries.

Team India`s Manav Suthar returned with the figures of six wickets for 33 runs in 22 overs. Prasidh Krishna also bagged three wickets by conceding 37 runs in 11 overs. Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar are yet to claim any wickets.

IND vs AFG Test: Day 2 summary

Team India declared on 564 on Day 2. The hosts lost eight wickets after playing 127 overs.

Opening the innings, Afghanistan`s Abdul Malik scored 16 runs in 18 balls, including three boundaries. Sediqullah Atal also departed on 17 runs in 27 balls, with the help of three boundaries.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz managed to score just 12 runs in 40 balls, which included a boundary and a maximum. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi registered 20 runs in 48 balls, including four boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Afsar Zazai was dismissed on three runs in 26 balls.

In the first essay of the game, Team India`s Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav stayed unbeaten. Facing 68 balls, Sundar garnered 52 runs, with the help of five boundaries and a maximum, whereas Kuldeep scored nine runs in 26 balls, including a boundary.

Manav Suthar also registered 28 runs in 41 balls, with the help of two boundaries and the same number of maximums. Mohammed Siraj smashed 22 runs off 12 balls, including four boundaries and a maximum.

Skipper Shubman Gill`s impressive knock came to an end on 126 runs. His knock came in 177 balls, which included 15 boundaries and a maximum. Dhruv Jurel departed on 19 runs in 20 balls, including four boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant delivered a crucial knock of 81 runs, which came in 121 deliveries. His knock was laced with six boundaries and three maximums.

Afghanistan`s Mohammad Saleem returned with the figures of six wickets for 140 runs in 27 overs. Ziaur Rahman and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi also chipped in with one wicket each. Azmatullah Omarzai, Nangeyalia Kharote, and Abdul Malik went wicketless in India`s first innings of the one-off Test match.

Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs (ATMWS) pulled off a thrilling seven-run victory over Arcs Andheri (AA) on Sunday.

ATMWS posted 171-6 and bowled out AA for 164 in a last-ball finish. ATMWS, with two wins and two losses, are fifth in the points table while AA are second with two wins and a loss in three matches.

AA were in a winning position till 18 overs when No. 4 Prasad Pawar was in the middle with a responsible half-century. AA skipper Shivam Dube came and went in a hurry, striking three sixes in his 25 at No. 6 before falling to left-arm medium-pacer Ankur Singh in the 16th over.

Needing 16 off 12 deliveries with four wickets in hand, Pawar attempted a reverse sweep against left-arm spinner Vinayak Bhoir off the first ball of the 19th over, only to be bowled for 54 (39b, 3x4, 2x6). Bhoir conceded only five runs in that 19th over.

With AA needing 11 off the last over and three wickets in hand, Ankur conceded only three runs, took two wickets and effected a run out to inflict AA’s first defeat.

Earlier, ATMWS owed it to left-handed No. 4 Ajit Yadav’s 55 off 33 balls (5x4, 3x6) to take them to a competitive total. AA spinners restricted ATMWS to 33-1 in Powerplay, the lowest in this period this season. AA have the best economy rate among the teams in this league, conceding under 6.50 an over in the Powerplay.

ATMWS opener Jay Bista (35) repeatedly made room to play with the turn against left-arm spinners Ajay Mishra (2-18), Musheer Khan and Pragnesh Kanpillewar to score over the infield on the off-side for fours.

Ajit negotiated the spin with aplomb and played his shots calculatedly even as Mishra bowled the odd wrist-spin and Divyaansh Saxena bowled ambidextrous.

Ajit, 24, who runs a fruit shop in Andheri, said: “It was a good pitch, not a turning one. I took my time and played accordingly. I had to respect the bowlers who were bowling well and hit whenever the loose balls came.”

On the tense finish, Ajit said: “We had the belief that we were winning the match. Ankurbhai and Vinayakbhai bowled very well. The wicket of Pawar in the penultimate over by Vinayakbhai was the turning point.”

England captain Ben Stokes said the Lord’s pitch was “not ideal” for Test cricket after his side thrashed New Zealand by 115 runs on Sunday.

New Zealand, set 254 to win, were dismissed for just 138 before lunch on the fourth day, with paceman Gus Atkinson taking 5-30. A pitch of variable bounce in what was the 150th Test staged at Lord’s — the most at any ground — made life difficult for batsmen.

The first day alone saw 16 wickets fall, with Stokes telling reporters after England went 1-0 up in a three-match series: “If you are there on Day One, you have had a great time. Wickets falling, balls flying everywhere… with 16 wickets and 200 runs being scored, it’s a good day out. But it was an inconsistent pitch. As a batter you never feel in. As someone who believes Test cricket is the best format and should never disappear, that is not ideal...It’s not just the case that players have lost the ability to dig in.”

Meanwhile MCC secretary and chief executive Rob Lawson acknowledged the problem after Sunday’s play, saying in a statement: “We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are naturally frustrated when a surface falls short of those expectations.”
