IPL star caught red-handed by BCCI in hotel room, breaking rules repeatedly

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly caught an unnamed IPL player repeatedly hosting unauthorized late-night visitors inside his hotel room. The Anti-Corruption Unit took disciplinary action after the player allegedly violated newly introduced security protocols by the board.
The IPL 2026 season has now entered the final stages of the tournament. Earlier this season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India circulated strict operational guidelines that prohibited players and support staff from allowing private visitors into hotel rooms without prior approval from the team manager. freshyourfeel.org
BCCI Restricts IPL Players From Allowing Guests Inside Hotel Rooms
The player reportedly invited several visitors into his hotel room, violating the BCCI’s strict off-field protocols during IPL 2026. The incident has again raised concerns over whether players are following the board’s recently introduced security guidelines.
The Anti-Corruption Unit questioned the team manager regarding the alleged late-night meetings inside the players’ room. However, reports claimed the manager responded casually and defended the player by pointing to his senior status within the squad.
A former franchise official reportedly said that senior cricketers often use their status within teams to bend administrative rules. The anonymous official recalled once advising a prominent player to meet friends in the hotel lobby restaurant instead of bringing them into his private hotel room.
“I am not surprised. At times, the players use their stature within the team to bend the rules. Once I told a player to host his friends in the lobby restaurant, not in his room,” a former official said.
Former IPL Manager Admits Senior Players Often Bend Rules
Another former IPL team manager admitted that enforcing the BCCI’s guest-related rules often led to unpleasant confrontations with senior players. The official recalled one incident where a cricketer dismissed the warning and claimed he would deal with board officials if questions were raised later.
“I told him there are some board instructions on such matters. He just snapped: ‘You don't worry. I will tell the board (officials) if they ask’,” said a former official who worked for a long time in the IPL as a team manager.
The BCCI will take stricter action if players continue ignoring the newly introduced protocols during IPL 2026. Officials could consider financial penalties, suspensions, or formal notices, while serious matters linked to corruption or honey-trapping allegations may eventually lead to legal proceedings.
IPL Franchises Continue Facing Challenges Over Player Discipline
The official admitted that tournament rules are not always followed strictly by players and teams. He said that franchises are now considering regular monitoring measures while also discussing with the BCCI how to enforce the rules without affecting player privacy.
“I agree that sometimes rules are not followed in letter and spirit, or sometimes some exemptions will be given to the players. Now, we are looking to put in place constant checks on the players. But we should also ensure that it's not an intrusion into their privacy. We will also be in talks with the BCCI as to how to implement this particular rule without any issue,” the official said.
Earlier this season, Riyan Parag was fined 25 percent of his match fee for a dressing-room protocol breach during the Rajasthan Royals (RR) match.

Jaiswal, Shafali get NADA notice for missed dope tests
Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have been issued notices by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for not being available for scheduled dope tests last year, leading to their first whereabouts failure.
It is reliably learnt that the two players, who are a part of the NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP), did not explain the reasons for the missed tests, leading to the notices.
“Notices have been issued to the concerned athletes, and the same has been intimated to the national federation (the BCCI) and the ICC,” a well-placed source told PTI even though NADA declined comment citing confidentiality of the procedure.
On being contacted, a BCCI source also confirmed the development. “Yes, we have received notification from NADA on missed tests. We will check with them as to how it happened, and will take necessary steps so that such things do not happen in future,” the source told PTI.

IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians look to rise in Raipur against RCB
Mumbai Indians face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru with renewed confidence in their IPL match at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium here on Sunday.
MI secured their third win of the season by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in a high-scoring encounter at Wankhede on Monday. It will be a do-or-die game for the five-time champions, who are currently placed ninth with six points from 10 matches.
MI batters find their mojo
MI’s batting line-up showed glimpses of a glorious past, successfully chasing down 228 against LSG.
Rohit Sharma marked his return from an injury layoff with a blistering 84 off 44 balls, and the victory gave the team temporary relief after a slew of defeats.
Rohit and his opening partner Ryan Rickelton will have to negate the potent RCB new-ball pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.
Skipper Hardik Pandya missed the LSG clash due to back spasms. He has travelled to Raipur, but his fitness will be monitored closely before a final call is taken on his availability.
On the other hand, RCB will want their batting group to rediscover its form to snap a two-match losing streak and put their campaign back on track.
RCB slip after flying start
RCB were off to a flying start this season, winning four of their first five matches and a Playoffs entry appeared a mere formality. But now the situation has changed. The title holders have lost three of their last five matches to slip into a minor mid-season crisis.
RCB, currently fourth on the table with 12 points from 10 matches, are still in a prime position to enter the knockout stage. But the Bengaluru outfit will certainly be aware that they have lost a bit of steam towards the business end of the tournament.
RCB will need their batting group to regain its range. They would welcome some runs from Jacob Bethell, who came in for an injured Phil Salt. But his four outings so far have produced 14, 20, 5 and 4, robbing power from RCB’s opening combination, and it has left Virat Kohli to do all the heavy lifting. Equally discomforting is the diminished return from wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, as his highest score this season is 23.

IPL 2026: `Batting with Kohli allows you to play freely,` Bethell
Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Jacob Bethell spoke about the team’s mindset, his own form, and the confidence within the dressing room ahead of RCB’s key clash against Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday.
Reflecting on the experience of batting alongside Virat Kohli, Bethell said: “It is cool. I have said it multiple times, how cool it is to bat with him and be involved in the dressing room with him. I don’t think it adds any more pressure. It is just nice to have someone of that calibre in your team. You can count on him and a lot of the time people are only watching him, so a lot of the pressure is off. It is not something that burdens you, it is something that allows you to play freely, I guess.”
On RCB’s transition from Bengaluru to Raipur, Bethell added: “This is our home away from home now. We had a great welcome at the hotel and the transition to Raipur has been seamless. Mumbai has had a couple of days here, but I don’t really think that makes a huge difference. We are a confident team and I think we are going to adapt pretty well.”
