IOC Confirms Highest Sustainability Standards for Future Corporate Events

The International Olympic Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility by confirming that all future IOC corporate events will follow the organisation’s highest sustainability standards.
The announcement forms part of the IOC’s broader push to strengthen climate action and sustainable operations across the Olympic Movement. According to the committee, the updated approach will apply to conferences, meetings, forums and other official corporate gatherings organised under the IOC banner. musojam.blog
The new standards focus on reducing environmental impact while promoting responsible sourcing, waste reduction, energy efficiency and social inclusion. Organisers will also be expected to prioritise sustainable travel solutions, local procurement and environmentally responsible venue operations wherever possible.
Sustainability has become one of the central pillars of the IOC’s long-term strategy over the past decade. The organisation has increasingly faced pressure from environmental groups, athletes and host cities to ensure major sporting events operate with lower carbon footprints and stronger ecological accountability.
In response, the IOC has steadily expanded its sustainability framework beyond the Olympic Games themselves and into its day-to-day operations.
Officials stated that the updated standards are designed not only to minimise environmental harm but also to create measurable long-term impact. The initiative will reportedly include detailed monitoring systems to track emissions, resource usage and social responsibility targets connected to IOC corporate activities.
The IOC has already implemented several sustainability-focused initiatives in recent years, including renewable energy usage, waste management reforms and climate action programmes linked to future Olympic hosts. Olympic House in Lausanne, Switzerland, has often been presented as one of the organisation’s flagship sustainability projects because of its energy-efficient design and environmentally conscious infrastructure.
Environmental concerns surrounding mega sporting events have grown significantly in recent years. Critics have frequently questioned the long-term ecological costs of large-scale construction, international travel and resource consumption associated with global tournaments.
The IOC now appears determined to position itself as a leader in sustainable sports governance.
Climate action experts believe such policies could influence sporting organisations beyond the Olympic Movement as well. Because the Olympics remain one of the world’s most visible sporting platforms, sustainability measures adopted by the IOC often shape broader conversations around event management and environmental responsibility in international sport.
The committee also stressed that sustainability should not be viewed only through an environmental lens. Social inclusion, workforce wellbeing and responsible sourcing practices will also form major components of the updated standards.
While challenges remain in balancing global sporting events with environmental expectations, the IOC’s latest move signals a growing recognition that sustainability is no longer optional for modern sports organisations.
As preparations continue for future Olympic Games and corporate gatherings, the IOC hopes these stricter standards will strengthen its credibility while helping shape a more environmentally responsible future for international sport.

IPL 2026 qualification scenarios: PBKS, RR, CSK, DC, KKR in fierce battle for final playoffs spot

The race for the playoffs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has gone right down to the wire, with five teams still battling hard for one remaining spot in the top four.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have already sealed qualification for the IPL 2026 playoffs after producing consistent performances throughout the season. While RCB became the first side to qualify, SRH???s win over Chennai Super Kings also helped Gujarat Titans officially book their place in the next round.
With Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants already knocked out of the competition, the focus has now shifted towards Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. All five teams are still mathematically alive in the playoffs race, and with only a handful of league-stage matches remaining, every single result could completely change the points table.

IPL 2026: Qualification Scenario for Five Teams Battling for One Spot

IPL 2026: Punjab Kings Qualification Scenario
Punjab Kings have put themselves in a difficult situation after their defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026. PBKS now have only one league-stage game left against Lucknow Super Giants and can maximum reach 15 points. However, qualification is no longer entirely in their hands. Punjab will need to beat LSG and hope Rajasthan Royals lose at least one of their remaining matches. Alongside that, Kolkata Knight Riders must either lose one game or stay behind PBKS on net run-rate if both teams finish on 15 points.
Punjab Kings can even sneak through with 13 points, but for that several results must fall perfectly in place. Rajasthan Royals would need to lose both their matches, Gujarat Titans must beat Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders would have to beat Delhi Capitals but lose against Mumbai Indians. Even then, PBKS would need to stay ahead of KKR on net run-rate.

IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Qualification Scenario
Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, still control their own destiny despite losing six of their last eight matches. RR have two matches remaining against already-eliminated Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians. If they manage to win both games, they will move to 16 points and seal qualification without depending on any other side. That makes them arguably the strongest contender among the teams fighting for the fourth spot.
There is still a route available for Rajasthan Royals even if they finish on 14 points. In that case, Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals would all need to lose their remaining fixtures. Along with that, Mumbai Indians must beat Kolkata Knight Riders to ensure KKR do not cross RR in the standings.
IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings Qualification Scenario
Chennai Super Kings suffered a massive setback after their defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk. The five-time champions are currently sitting on 12 points and can only finish with 14 if they beat Gujarat Titans in their final league-stage game. But even that may not be enough.
For CSK to qualify, Rajasthan Royals need to lose both their matches, Punjab Kings must lose against Lucknow Super Giants, and Kolkata Knight Riders must beat Delhi Capitals but then lose to Mumbai Indians. If all those scenarios happen, Chennai Super Kings could sneak into the playoffs, likely ahead of Delhi Capitals because of their superior net run-rate.
IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals Qualification Scenario
Delhi Capitals are perhaps in the toughest position among all the contenders because of their terrible net run-rate of -0.871. DC cannot afford any net run-rate battle and realistically need every result to go in their favour. Their only remaining game is against Kolkata Knight Riders, and they must win it to move to 14 points.
Alongside that victory, Delhi Capitals would need Lucknow Super Giants to beat Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals to lose both their remaining matches against LSG and MI, and Gujarat Titans to defeat Chennai Super Kings. Only then can DC qualify cleanly without net run-rate becoming a factor.
IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders Qualification Scenario
Kolkata Knight Riders still have two matches remaining, against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, and that gives them a slight edge compared to some other teams. KKR can finish on 15 points if they win both matches, and that could be enough depending on Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.
If RR lose one game and Punjab Kings lose to Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders will qualify by reaching 15 points. Even if PBKS beat LSG and also reach 15, KKR can still qualify if they maintain a better net run-rate.
Interestingly, KKR can also qualify with 13 points. For that to happen, they must beat Delhi Capitals while Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals lose both their games, and Punjab Kings lose to Lucknow Super Giants. Net run-rate would then come into the picture once again.

IPL 2026: Indian star MS Dhoni fires away in Chennai
India`s 2011 ODI World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni fired a few rounds of ammunition during his visit to the National Security Guard (NSG) Regional Hub in Chennai recently. The Chennai Super Kings star was seen firing a few shots at the NSG’s shooting range, in a video on social media. Dhoni, 44, who holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel, was also seen smiling and interacting with the commandos.
“Fit lag raha hoon na? [I’m looking fit, right?],” he asked them with a smile.
A calf injury has kept Dhoni out of the current edition of the IPL.
IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals can’t let the playoff spot slip
Their Playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Rajasthan Royals will need an all-round improvement against the out-of-contention Lucknow Super Giants to stay alive in the IPL here on Tuesday.
At the high-scoring Sawai Mansingh Stadium, RR are yet to win a game this season and the final fixture here is a do-or-die one for the home team. Following Tuesday’s fixture, RR’s last game is also against a vanquished outfit — Mumbai Indians.
In Delhi on Sunday night, RR should have out-batted Delhi Capitals but a lower-order collapse cost them the match in which their fielding and bowling were also fairly ordinary. This was their third defeat in a row.
RR have been relying heavily on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for flying starts, but the youngster has not got enough support from Yashasvi Jaiswal at the other end.
Dhruv Jurel has played some sublime knocks, but the one on Sunday night was a rather subdued one with wickets falling at the other end. Captain Riyan Parag was underwhelming in the first half of the IPL, but has picked up pace in recent games. He would want his side to be much more clinical in the last five overs with the bat.
The catching and fielding have generally been poor in the IPL and RR too have been guilty of grassing easy chances. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant-led LSG, dealing with issues of their own, come into the game on the back of a rare win in the tournament.
They beat Chennai Super Kings at home on May 15 and would be looking to play party-poopers in their remaining two games (last one against Punjab Kings).

Selection for Afghan series: Bumrah’s workload, Rohit’s fitness in focus
Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah`s workload management will be debated alongside the match fitness of Rohit Sharma when the national selectors pick India`s squads for next month`s one-off Test and three ODIs against Afghanistan, here on Tuesday. There is a short turnaround between the IPL and the one off Test which begins in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) from June 6. The IPL final is scheduled on May 31 in Ahmedabad.
The ODI games will take place in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai on June 14, 17 and 20. It is unlikely that Bumrah would be picked for both formats because there is no immediate rush for him to feature in ODIs. The 50-over World Cup is still a long way off (October-November, 2027). Rohit had missed a chunk of Mumbai Indians` matches earlier in the IPL due to a hamstring injury and in the last game against Punjab Kings, he only came out to bat as an impact player. The selectors will include him in the side only if he is fully fit for 100 overs of an ODI game.
Superstar Virat Kohli, who like Rohit is now a one format player, has shown sublime form in the IPL and is expected to feature in all three ODIs against Afghanistan. The one-off Test holds more significance considering India`s troubles in the traditional format especially at home. The batters need to find a way to tackle spin-friendly conditions. It is an aspect that has bothered them for a while now and was thoroughly exposed by South Africa in the home series last November.
India have also not been able to find a stable number three since Cheteshwar Pujara left the scene. Sai Sudharsan got his chances but could not deliver. And now Devdutt Padikkal is expected to be given a decent run from the start of the home season. Architect of Jammu and Kashmir`s historic Ranji Trophy triumph, Aquib Nabi, is also likely to be a part of selectors` discussion for the Test team. He took 60 wickets in a stellar campaign.
Prince Yadav for ODIs?
Prince Yadav, who has impressed with his pace and accuracy in the ongoing IPL, can be tried in the ODI series. If Bumrah is not part of the side, Mohammed Siraj will be the leader of the attack with Prasidh Krishna too likely to feature in it. Like Rohit, Hardik Pandya too has been battling to stay fit in the IPL following back spasms. It remains to be seen if he is available for the ODIs.
