Chennai Super Kings have picked Macneil Hadley Noronha as the replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh for the rest of IPL 2026. Ghosh, who made his debut against Mumbai Indians earlier this month. suffered a foot fracture in the same game, leading to him being ruled out of the rest of the tournament. Noronha’s addition is the latest as the five-time champions boast of a very young squad, departing from their conventional approach of relying on veterans. He has played just 3 T20 matches so far in which he has scored 58 runs and has picked up 1 wicket. He shot to the limelight after his 253-run season for the Mangaluru Dragons in the Maharaja Trophy in 2025. He played at a strike rate of 148.82 and struck 19 sixes in 13 matches. The five-time champions are already plagued with multiple injuries, with the likes of Ayush Mhatre, Khaleel Ahmed being ruled out of the tournament. Ghosh, who warmed the bench throughout IPL 2025, took part in his first game of the league against MI on Saturday, and even picked up a wicket apart from taking a brilliant catch.

“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026,” CSK said in a statement issued on social media platforms.

Ghosh conceded just 24 runs from his 3 overs while taking one wicket on his IPL debut. Ghosh made an instant impact on his arrival in the IPL, bagging the prized wicket of Suryakumar Yadav as his first scalp. Punjab Kings also released an official statement, urging people not to spread fake stories for social media engagement.

PBKS struggling after strong start

Punjab Kings have endured a difficult phase in the tournament, particularly with their bowling performances. The side failed to defend a target of 223 runs against the Rajasthan Royals in Mullanpur before suffering defeats against the Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals.

Dropped catches, poor fielding, and expensive bowling spells have contributed significantly to the team’s recent losses.

After once topping the points table, Punjab Kings have now slipped to fourth place with 13 points from six wins, four losses, and one draw.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will require a significantly punchier batting effort to overcome Kolkata Knight Riders` in-form bowling unit and close in on an IPL playoffs berth here on Wednesday.

RCB are currently perched atop the points table with 14 points, but they will lose that spot to either Sunrisers Hyderabad or Gujarat Titans, who also have 14 points.

However, more than that temporary slip, the RCB management will be focussed on their batters, who would be expected to deliver the signature effort, which marked their campaign early this season.

The Bengaluru batting unit was a pale shadow of its fear-inducing self against Mumbai Indians while chasing a middling 167 here.

They needed a determined half-century from Krunal Pandya and a six in the fourth ball of the final over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar to chase that down.

Patidar off the boil

Skipper Rajat Patidar`s contribution is important in that aura-rebuilding exercise. After a glorious run early in the tournament, punctuated by a shower of sixes, the right-hander seems to have slumped of late, managing just one fifty-plus score and one 20-plus score in the last six innings.

It has reduced the RCB`s middle-order fire-power to a certain degree, but contributions from others batters like Devdutt Padikkal and Tim David have helped them stay above the water.

But the three-time champions are still eighth on the table with nine points from 10 matches, and a misadventure here will certainly push them closer to elimination from the play-offs race.

To avoid that scenario, the Knight Riders batters will also have to chip in, effectively countering the RCB new ball operators -- Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane still has no grip on his craft this season but vice-captain Rinku Singh, Kiwi Finn Allen, Anukul Roy and Angkrish Raghuvanshi have shored up their batting in the last few matches.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green too has shown massive improvement after a cold start, and it has helped bring some stability to KKR. They will need an encore here for KKR to sustain their run and keep their slender chances of reaching playoffs alive.

Delhi Capitals (DC) batter David Miller said personal pride and experience helped him remain calm during high-pressure situations as DC pulled off a record run chase against Punjab Kings (PBKS) to keep their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive.

Delhi Capitals chased down 211 with three wickets in hand at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Monday, registering the highest successful IPL chase in the stadium`s history.

Miller played a pivotal role in the victory with a crucial 51-run knock after DC were left reeling at 14/2 and later 38/3 in the massive chase. Captain Axar Patel led the recovery with a blazing 56, while debutant Madhav Tiwari’s fearless 18 off eight balls helped seal the contest late in the innings.

Speaking after the match, Miller said the motivation to finish games strongly comes from personal standards regardless of the opposition. “I think it goes beyond that. It’s more just personal pride and in wanting to close out games, whichever team I play for," Miller said in a video released by IPL on X. “Yeah, obviously a good feeling to do it against them. Obviously disappointed to get out when I did, but I think Axar played so, so well."

The South African batter admitted Delhi had struggled for consistency this season and said the victory was important for restoring momentum. “And we’ve obviously struggled to get a couple of wins here and there. And it’s nice to get another win on the belt and play for some pride and get back on winning ways. So yeah, it’s a good win,” he said.

“I think that’s what, I suppose, experience comes in, you know, when you’re sort of a tough moment, you always look back on past experiences that you’ve achieved and accomplished. So it gives you confidence in that situation. And obviously I’ve played quite a lot, so I had a couple of good knocks every now and again, and it was nice to fall back on that,” he added.

Miller reserved special praise for IPL debutant Madhav Tiwari, whose late cameo shifted the momentum decisively in Delhi’s favour.

Tiwari struck boundaries at crucial moments and combined with Ashutosh Sharma to collect 19 runs in the 18th over before DC completed the chase with six balls remaining. The young all-rounder also took two crucial wickets.

"So he’s been working hard this season and putting in good shifts and bowling really well, and it’s always nice to see the guys working hard and then getting an opportunity to do well. And there’s a lot of pressure out there, not having to play for the whole season and then coming to play this. So I suppose a lot of pressure on himself, but managing to get over the line and doing that for the team was really, really good," Miller said.

Meanwhile, after this win, the Delhi Capitals are placed at seventh position with 10 points in 12 matches.
