Algérie : Vladimir Petkovic quitte officiellement la tête des Fennecs
La Fédération algérienne de football (FAF) a annoncé ce lundi la fin de sa collaboration avec Vladimir Petkovic. L’aventure de Vladimir Petkovic à la tête de la sélection algérienne a pris fin. Ce lundi soir, la Fédération algérienne de football (FAF) a officialisé la séparation avec le technicien suisse et son staff technique.
Cette décision intervient quelques semaines après une Coupe du Monde 2026 jugée insuffisante pour les Fennecs, éliminés dès les seizièmes de finale. Un bilan qui a conduit les deux parties à mettre un terme à leur collaboration, malgré la prolongation de contrat accordée à Petkovic avant le tournoi mondial.
Dans un communiqué publié ce lundi, l’instance dirigeante du football algérien a confirmé que cette rupture s’est effectuée d’un commun accord.

« La Fédération Algérienne de Football (FAF) informe que la relation contractuelle la liant au sélectionneur national, M. Vladimir Petkovic, ainsi qu’à son staff technique, a officiellement pris fin ce jour, d’un commun accord.
La FAF tient à exprimer sa profonde gratitude à M. Vladimir Petkovic et à l’ensemble de son staff pour leur professionnalisme, leur engagement et leur dévouement durant les vingt-neuf (29) mois passés à la tête de l’équipe nationale.
La Fédération leur adresse ses sincères remerciements pour le travail accompli et leur souhaite plein succès dans la poursuite de leur carrière professionnelle », a indiqué la FAF dans son communiqué.
Après vingt-neuf mois à la tête des Fennecs, Vladimir Petkovic tourne ainsi une page de sa carrière. La Fédération algérienne devra désormais s’atteler à la recherche de son successeur afin de préparer les prochaines échéances de la sélection nationale.

Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of talented winger Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC.
Phili joined thew club club after a standout campaign with Stellies in which he finish as their top goal scorer nine goals and grabbed one assists in 39 appearances cross all competitions.

The 21-year-old arrives at the club having come through the academy ranks at Stellenbosch, where he went on to make 72 appearances, while scoring 11 goals and registered two assists.
The highly-rated winger has become the latest player to join the club and will link up with his new teammates as they prepare for the upcoming MTN8 competition.

“The 21-year-old sensation arrives at Amakhosi after a standout campaign last season in which he finished as Stellenbosch’s top scorer, netting nine goals and bagging both the player-of-the-season and players’-player-of-the-season awards. His performances earned widespread recognition and underlined his reputation as one of the most promising attacking talents in South African football.
“Durban-born Phili has already accumulated valuable experience in his short career so far, having played 39 matches in the PSL and CAF Confederation Cup last season, demonstrating a level of consistency that was earmarked by the technical team as a major potential asset in meeting the demands of a marathon campaign that could see the Glamour Boys contesting more than 50 fixtures across domestic and continental competitions.
“His talent, work ethic and commitment have seen him become a key member of the national age-group structures. He was part of the team that lifted the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Morocco last year and was recently called up to the national U-23 squad as they prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where the winners will play in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Transfert : la SAG s’attache les services du « Roc » Aboubacar Demba Sylla
L’Ashanti Golden Boys de Siguiri poursuit son renforcement en vue de la prochaine saison. Le club jaune et noir a officialisé ce mardi l’arrivée du défenseur central Aboubacar Demba Sylla en provenance de l’AS Kaloum. Il s’est engagé pour les deux prochaines saisons.
L’Ashanti Golden Boys de Siguiri frappe un grand coup sur le marché des transferts. La SAG a annoncé, ce mardi 4 août 2026, la signature d’Aboubacar Demba Sylla, solide défenseur central surnommé « Le Roc », en provenance de l’AS Kaloum.
Joueur d’expérience, reconnu pour son impact physique, sa rigueur défensive et son sens de l’anticipation, Aboubacar Demba Sylla quitte le Gbin Gbin So pour relever un nouveau défi sous les couleurs du club de Siguiri. Selon les informations communiquées par la SAG, le joueur a paraphé un contrat de deux ans.
Ce recrutement illustre les ambitions affichées par le club jaune et noir à l’approche de la nouvelle saison de Ligue 1 Guicopres. Avec l’arrivée d’un défenseur de son calibre, la formation de Siguiri entend renforcer sa solidité défensive et jouer les premiers rôles.

Vihiga Cranes, Terem, Musokoto crowned Busia champions in Safaricom Chapa Dimba
NAIROBI, Kenya, August 4, 2026 – Busia’s Chakol Queens successfully defended their county title for the second consecutive time after edging out Falcon Queens 1-0 in the Busia County final played at Malaba Primary School.
In the boys’ contest, visitors Musokoto Secondary School from Nambale Constituency silenced home side Malaba Homeboys in a highly spirited encounter at the same venue.
John Onyango opened the scoring for the visitors in the fourth minute to put his side in front.
Malaba Homeboys pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find a way through before Sanchez Omondi sealed the victory for Musokoto FC with a late strike to make it 2-0 and send the home side packing.
“I am happy to have retained the title for the second consecutive time. As you know, it is not easy to retain a title, especially with the tough competition at the grassroots level. The game was tough. We are used to playing the ball on the ground, while our opponents preferred aerial balls, which took us some time to adjust to. However, after studying their game, we decided to keep possession and capitalise on the opportunities we created to beat them,” Chakol head coach Abraham Muleme said.
Elsewhere, last year’s regional champions Brenda Girls and Ebwali Boys failed to make it to the regional finals after being knocked out.
Brenda Girls were eliminated in the playoffs at Bungoma High School Grounds, while Vihiga’s Ebwali Boys narrowly fell 1-0 to Coach Francis Muhambe’s Vihiga Cranes in a tightly contested encounter, handing the Cranes the Vihiga County title.
Still in Vihiga, Maroon Queens fell 2-0 to Blue Commandos, with both goals scored by Victoria Nekesa, as the new entrants booked their place in the regional finals.
In Bungoma County, Elgon Queens from Mt. Elgon were crowned the new champions after defeating St. Augustine Girls Lukhuna 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw in the girls’ final.
In the boys’ category, Terem FC booked their place in the regional finals after edging out Misikhu Friends School 5-3 on penalties following a barren draw in regular time.
“We came prepared for this game. After watching our opponents play in yesterday’s playoffs, we knew it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. Although we had hoped to win in regular time, that didn’t happen. However, I am happy my boys showed great composure during the penalty shootout and converted all our spot-kicks to win the title. From here, we now embark on preparations for the regional finals, as we know it is going to be tough. My aim is to reach the national finals and have some of my players make the All-Star Team that will travel to Sweden for the Gothia Cup,” Terem FC head coach Evans Kimungui said.
The winners from the three counties will be joined by the Kakamega County champions, whose finals are scheduled for the coming weekend on August 8-9 at Bukhungu Stadium.
“It has always been my wish and prayer to participate in Chapa Dimba. Today, I am glad that I am not just participating but also showcasing my talent to the world through this well-organised platform. I am happy with the win, and I want to assure our fans that as we head to the regional finals, we will not let them down,” Terem FC captain Owen Kiprop said.
The winning boys’ and girls’ teams were each awarded KES 75,000, while the runners-up received KES 30,000.
The Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player (MVP) in each category took home KES 10,000.
In addition, the MVPs will receive fully funded tertiary education scholarships under the Safaricom Citizens of the Future Programme.
Bubista quitte le Cap-Vert pour la RS Berkane
La Renaissance sportive de Berkane a officialisé ce mardi la nomination de Bubista au poste d’entraîneur principal. Le technicien cap-verdien, qui dirigeait jusqu’ici la sélection nationale du Cap-Vert, s’apprête à tourner la page après plusieurs années à la tête des Requins Bleus. Son départ de la sélection devrait être entériné dans les prochains jours.
Révélé sur la scène internationale grâce au remarquable parcours du Cap-Vert lors de la Coupe du monde 2026, où la sélection a atteint les huitièmes de finale, Bubista s’offre son premier défi majeur en club. Son expérience et son travail avec la sélection cap-verdienne ont convaincu les dirigeants de Berkane de lui confier les rênes de l’équipe.
Le technicien arrive dans un club ambitieux, habitué à jouer les premiers rôles au Maroc comme sur la scène continentale. Champion du Maroc en 2025, la RS Berkane a terminé à la deuxième place du championnat la saison dernière et s’est hissée jusqu’en demi-finales de la Ligue des champions de la CAF. Le club retrouvera d’ailleurs cette compétition cette saison avec l’objectif de franchir un nouveau cap sous la direction de son nouvel entraîneur.
