Ditto, Pikachu och Snorlax blir lyxsmycken när Pokémon fyller 30
Smycken inspirerade av videospelsvärlden är inget nytt. Tvärtom verkar det bli allt vanligare att hitta både halsband och ringar även i officiella nätbutiker. Oftast är dessa mindre exklusiva föremål, men det finns förstås undantag, och vi har nu ett exempel på det från U-Treasure.
Tillsammans med Nintendo och Game Freak har de skapat en rad olika halsband precis lagom till Pokémon-seriens 30-årsjubileum, och dessa är mer exklusiva smycken. Alla halsband finns i 18 karats guld eller guldpläterade, men du får vad du betalar, och om du vill ha Snorlax i 18 karats guld kostar det 990 000 yen (ungefär 4 600 pund / 5 350 €), även om det också finns något billigare alternativ med bland annat Ditto och Pikachu.
Alla halsband levereras med en berlock med 30-årsjubileumslogotypen tryckt på baksidan, och de kommer att skickas i januari 2027. Om du vill göra lite fönstershopping, gå hit och kolla in utbudet.

How to get Nightstar Sand in Palworld
I was hoping to find a vendor selling Nightstar Sand after starting a new save for the Palworld 1.0 release, but it seems the mid-game crafting ingredient is still only available through good ol' fashioned gathering. You'll have to pick it all up by hand to craft several items from tech tree recipes starting around level 56.
Fortunately, I was farming this stuff in early access, so I know a thing or two about digging in the dirt for the glowy bits. Here's how to get Nightstar Sand in Palworld, along with a few recommendations on how to approach farming a haul respectful of your time.
Palworld Nightstar Sand location
Head to the Twilight Dunes or Sakurajima
There's an easy spot to farm Nightstar Sand in the Dessicated Dunes at night. Just take the fast travel point to the Searing Dunes Watchtower, look north, and glide off of the cliff ledge to the glowing sand nodes below.
Nightstar Sand nodes are only visible when it's dark out, but their faint glow begins just as the sun sets in the evening. You can even get lucky and stumble upon it during daylight hours, but that relies on luck and paying close attention to the action prompt. You likely won't need very much, and I had plenty to make the items I wanted after a few nightly trips.
- Feybreak Island beaches have way more Nightstar Sand than the dunes, but it's a tough area to navigate at lower levels. Visiting the Searing Dunes location was an easier trip when I was alone or under-levelled.
- The Dessicated Dunes have more Nightstar Sand around the Tower of the PIDF, but deposits there seem pretty sparse. I wouldn't spend a lot of time hunting for more sand further away from the fast travel point recommended.
Feybreak Island deposits often extend further inland, so follow trails of Nightstar Sand from the light-colored beaches into the grassy areas. I've gotten around 100 just from one night.
The Dessicated Dunes Nightstar Sand deposits are sparse, so don't pull your hair out scavenging for more. The dunes don't have much foliage either, so you'll see the glow from a mile away.
The glowing sand is mostly used to make weapons, tools, and accessories, so you won't need a hefty supply for things like ammo or potions. Here are a few crafting recipes for reference:
- Advanced Bow: (20) Nightstar Sand, (25) Carbon Fiber, (40) Plasteel
- Beam Sword: (20) Nightstar Sand, (30) Plasteel, (100) Palladium, (1) Computer

Square Enix hyllar Octopath Traveler med en lyxig Primrose-figur
{Octopath Traveler}-serien är en av Square Enix mest intressanta på senare tid. Det är en återgång till deras klassiska rollspel, komplett med den sagolikt vackra HD-2D-grafiken och en stora som knyter samma åtta personers vitt skilda berättelser.
Igår kunde vi berätta att de två första spelen i serien äntligen kommer få dedikerade Switch 2-versioner, vilka redan stealth-lanserats i Japan, och släpps här den 1 oktober. Primrose är 26,5 centimeter hög och kostar ¥37 400 (2280 kronor), och beskrivs såhär:

Layoffs might offer "better short-term financial results," late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata admitted in 2013, but "employees who fear that they may be laid off" will never produce the same results
Satoru Iwata was already a legend in the gaming community while he served as Nintendo president, and that legacy has only grown since his untimely death in 2015. He led the company through the highs of the Wii and DS era, but it's his actions through the financial lows of the Wii U and 3DS generation that are perhaps best remembered these days. Game developers are now subjected to the constant threat of mass layoffs at major publishers, but Iwata took a different approach.
Iwata famously slashed his own salary by 50% in 2011, in response to poor financial results following the launch of the 3DS. Other executives at Nintendo took smaller pay cuts as well, but the company did not lay off employees even during a period of three back-to-back years of operating losses as both the 3DS and Wii U failed to gain ground.
In 2013, an investor asked Iwata why Nintendo was not restructuring in the wake of those poor financial results. "If we reduce the number of employees for better short-term financial results," Iwata argued, "employee morale will decrease, and I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world."
You may have seen that quote being resurfaced back in 2024, when mass layoffs were happening across the game industry, and it's sadly still relevant now, because those layoffs have never really stopped.
"Some employers publicize their restructuring plan to improve their financial performance by letting a number of their employees go," Iwata said in 2013, "but at Nintendo, employees make valuable contributions in their respective fields, so I believe that laying off a group of employees will not help to strengthen Nintendo’s business in the long run. Our current policy is to achieve favorable results by continuously cutting unnecessary expenses and increasing business efficiency."
That policy doesn't really seem to have changed since Iwata's death, though there are caveats to keep in mind. Most notable is that Japanese labor laws make it much harder for employers to simply cut their workers, as compared with the at-will employment regulations in the US and some other Western countries.
I don't want to put Nintendo on a pedestal here – the company certainly has other issues beyond its unwillingness (or inability) to lay off employees – but Iwata's recognition of the human cost to the developers left behind when layoffs strike remains remarkable, especially as we continue to see devs cut by the hundreds and the thousands at publishers like Sony and Microsoft.
