Bakgrunnen for straffen er at Hokksund-gutten valgte å gå inn i depotet for å skifte dekk samtidig som det ble virtuell sikkerhetsbil i løpet. Dommerne henviser til at det ikke er tillatt å gjøre det obligatoriske pitstoppet under virtuell sikkerhetsbil – med mindre føreren allerede befinner seg i inngangen til eller i selve depotet.
