Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks saw his first game action since his second torn ACL in 2024
In Saturday's preseason game, Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks took his biggest step yet in his long road to recovery from his second serious knee injury.
Brooks got on the field in live action and had four touches with the first-string offense. He didn't do anything spectacular, but merely playing was a bit step for him after tearing the ACL in his right knee in his final college game, and then tearing the same ACL in just the third game of his pro career.
In 2023 at Texas, Brooks tore the ACL the first time. He then declared for the 2024 NFL draft, and the Panthers liked his talent enough to pick him in the second round, even though he was still recovering. Brooks didn't get onto the field until November of his rookie season while he recovered from the college injury, and after carrying the ball just nine times in the NFL, he tore the ACL in Week 14 of 2024. Now Brooks is finally back, and Panthers coach Dave Canales said the team is excited to have him back.
"It just felt good to see him out there running, getting hit, getting tackled, popping up and going back to the huddle," Canales said of Brooks. "I got a little emotional just knowing the journey to get him back to that point."
The Panthers lost their leading rusher from last season when Rico Dowdle left for Pittsburgh in free agency. They'd love to see Brooks step up and fill that void, and on Saturday he took a step toward doing that.
Petros best på EM-maratonet – Prestsæter beste norske
Tyske Amanal Petros viste styrke i Birminghams gater, og ble europamester i maraton søndag.
I kvinneklassen var finske Alisa Vainio suveren, og vant med over fire minutter.
Petros løp i mål på tiden 2.09.11, syv sekunder foran italienske Pietro Riva, som ble nummer to.
Den tiden holdt også til mesterskapsrekord for tyskeren.
Israelske Gashau Ayale sikret den siste plassen på pallen.
Sjur Prestsæter ble beste nordmann, med tiden 2.17.02. Det holdt til en 30.-plass.
– Jeg følte meg litt dårlig i starten og fikk litt hold. Men jeg roet litt ned og reddet meg inn. Jeg skulle ønske jeg hadde litt bedre dagsform, men jeg er veldig fornøyd med gjennomføringen og veldig stolt over å bli topp 30, sier Prestsæter til NRK etter løpet.
Eivind Øygard ble nest beste norske på en 42.-plass.

Sandvolleyball: Mol og Sørum til finale i Polen – jakter sin sjette EM-tittel
Stjerneduoen Anders Mol og Christian Sørum er klar for EM-finale mot svenskene Jacob Hölting Nilsson og Elmer Andersson.
Kampen spilles i ettermiddag i polske Stare Jablonki og er Mol/Sørums sjette EM-finale på ni år. De har vunnet alle de fem tidligere finalene de har spilt.
Finalebilletten ble sikret med 2-0-seier over det franske paret Teo Rotar og Arnaud Gauthier-Rat. Mol og Sørum tok grep om kampen relativt tidlig og vant det første settet 21-13.
Sett nummer to var jevnspilt i åpningen, men Mol/Sørum skaffet seg en solid fordel ved å gå fra 5-5 til 10-5 på kort tid. Nordmennene så seg ikke tilbake og avgjorde til slutt med settsifrene 21-12.
Finalemotstanderne Nilsson og Andersson vant en helsvensk semifinale mot David Åhman og Jonatan Hellvig 2-0.
Mol og Sørum er mestvinnende i EM-historien med titler i 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 og 2025. De tok dessuten bronse i 2022.
En finaleseier i Polen vil sikre norsk plass i OL-turneringen i sandvolleyball i 2028. (NTB)
PSG Signs Belgian Godts from Ajax
Paris Saint-Germain continues its ambitious pursuit of history by announcing the signing of Mika Godts from Ajax. The 21-year-old Belgian winger arrives in Paris for approximately €55 million, penning a five-year contract with the French champions.
Godts comes off an impressive season in Amsterdam, where he contributed with 17 goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie.
