Nets assign Ben Saraf, Josh Minott to G League Long Island
The Brooklyn Nets went into the All-Star Break with the challenge of incorporating two players into the team after acquiring them prior to the February trade deadline and waiving four other players. At this point, Brooklyn head coach Jordi Fernandez will have to figure out the best rotation moving forward, but at least two players will be getting their reps somewhere else.
The Nets announced on Tuesday that former Boston Celtics forward Josh Minott and rookie guard Ben Saraf has been assigned to the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League afiliate. Minott, who the Nets acquired from the Celtics in exchange for cash, has not seen the floor yet for the Nets while Saraf has been seeing consistent playing time since he was last recalled from Long Island on Jan. 24.
Saraf, 19, is averaging 5.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 33.6% from the field and 25.0% from three-point land for the season, but his recent stint with the Nets left something to be desired. Since Jan. 24, Saraf is averaging 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists per game while shooting 31.4% from the floor and 20.0% from deep.
Minott, 23, averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 50.7% from the field and 44.2% from behind the three-point line in 33 games played for the Celtics. As mentioned above, Minott hasn't yet made his debut for the Nets since being acquired via trade so it seems like Fernandez and the coaching staff is trying to get him acclimated to the team's style of play with the G League team.
Heading into Thursday's game at the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Nets will have to hope that forward Michael Porter Jr., center Nic Claxton, and forward Noah Clowney will be able to play after getting to rest during the All-Star Break. Porter (knee), Claxton (hip), and Clowney (ankle) did not play in Brooklyn's 115-110 loss to the Indiana Pacers heading into the Break due to their respective injuries. Either way, Saraf and Minott could be out of the rotation for the time being.
The Nets say they have assigned Josh Minott and Ben Saraf to their NBA G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.

Minott has not seen the floor for Brooklyn since being traded to the team from the Celtics prior to the trade deadline.
Since Jan. 24, Saraf is averaging 4.7 PPG.

Chiefs' updated cap space after restructuring Patrick Mahomes' contract
Chiefs' updated cap space after restructuring Patrick Mahomes' contract originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Kansas City Chiefs have begun the process of digging out of the financial hole they find themselves in for 2026.
According to Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap, the Chiefs restructured quarterback Patrick Mahomes' contract, which will free up a whopping $43.56 million in cap room.
The restructure lowers Mahomes' cap hit from $78.2 million to $34.65 million for this coming campaign. The Chiefs did this by converting $54.45 million of Mahomes' salary into a signing bonus.
This is the fourth time the Chiefs have restructured Mahomes' contract. The move will now lead to Mahomes' cap number rising by $10.89 million per year over the next four seasons.
While that's all well and good, the Chiefs still have some work to do.
Chiefs' updated cap space
Over The Cap now estimates Kansas City is $11.3 million over the cap, which is a far cry from the $54 million-plus the Chiefs were over before the restructure.
Kansas City still needs to clear more space, though, and not only to become cap compliant, but to also to free up money to make some moves and have funds to make it through the 2026 season.
More restructures could be coming, and we would fully expect some cuts to happen to get the Chiefs where they need to be.
Even with all that, Kansas City isn't likely to have a great cap space situation and the best approach for 2026 continues to be the Chiefs staying conservative and going through a transition year to set themselves up for a better financial future.

49ers to host game as NFL makes Mexico return
The San Francisco 49ers will play two international games during the 2026 NFL season.
The five-time Super Bowl winners had already confirmed they will play the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL's first game in Australia.
The 49ers have now revealed they will be the home team for the NFL's return to Mexico after a four-year break.
The NFL has agreed a new three-year commitment to play regular-season games in Mexico City, although the date and opponent are yet to be announced.
The 49ers played in both the first regular-season game to be held in Mexico (2005) and the most recent (2022).
Since then the Estadio Azteca has been renovated so that it can host games during this summer's World Cup.
The 49ers will become the third team to play two international games in the same season and the second team to play them in two different countries.
The Jacksonville Jaguars played two games in London in 2023 and 2024, before the Minnesota Vikings played in both Dublin and London last season.
Mexico, which has the largest NFL fanbase outside the United States, hosted the first regular-season game to be played outside the USA in 2005.
The NFL will play a record nine international games during the 2026 season.
