Liverpool pushed closer to signing 'amazing' ace after major transfer update
Joe Gomez could end up exiting Liverpool which would open the door for Lutsharel Geertruida to join
The future of Joe Gomez has hung heavy over the heads of everyone involved with Liverpool over the last couple of years.
In fact, during both the summer and winter transfer windows that have just gone by, the Englishman was a hot topic of conversation.
And, it seems like the exit links aren't going to slow down any time soon with Bayern Munich among the many clubs rumoured to be interested in the Englishman, according to Caught Offside.
In all honesty, Gomez could probably do with a fresh start away from the English media but, from Liverpool's point of view, they'd be losing a back-up for every defensive position.
This is why their move for Lutsharel Geertruida could be revisted in the summer, especially if Sunderland don't choose to activate their option to buy him.
Lutsharel Geertruida would be an ideal signing for Liverpool
Although Geertruida's deadline day move to Liverpool fell through due to the lack of time left in the transfer window, that doesn't mean that the Dutchman isn't a transfer that can be explored in the summer.
The defender is only 25 years old and, much like Gomez, he can play anywhere across the back four.
And, since he's currently playing for Regis le Bris' Sunderland, he already has an extensive amount of Premier League experience, which, in this day and age, is key for teams that want to win the title.
Liverpool bit the bullet and signed some players without any Premier League experience and, while some such as Hugo Ekitike took like ducks to water, others such as Jeremie Frimpong failed to meet expectations.
The time that it took the Reds' new signings to get adjusted to life as Liverpool players is also something that needs to be considered but, with Geertruida already playing Premier League football for a big club, and being dubbed an 'amazing' player in the past, it may not take him as long.
It's unclear how much the Dutchman would cost to prise away from RB Leipzig or Sunderland, but, if Gomez is finally sold in the summer, it's clear that Hughes and Slot will have a lot of work to do to try and replace him.
Abandoned Winter Olympics Site Reveals £5.2 Billion Ghost Town
The once-proud Winter Olympics site has transformed into a ghost town, with significant overgrowth and graffiti covering large portions of the facility. The bobsleigh track, once a centerpiece of the games, has fallen into disrepair despite the massive government expenditure just two decades ago.
Images of the abandoned venue show the Alps in the background as a stark contrast to the dilapidated structures, raising concerns about the long-term viability of Olympic investments and questions about whether upcoming events like Milan Cortina might face similar challenges.

Everton vs Manchester United: Match preview, predicted line-ups, team news and prediction
Round 27 of the 2025-26 Premier League season concludes with a meeting between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park on Monday.
After claiming a 1-0 victory in November’s reverse fixture, the hosts will set out to complete a first league double over their visitors in 12 years.
Match preview
United suffered their first blip under new boss Michael Carrick in a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on February 10.
The Red Devils were staring down the barrel of a first league defeat since December, following Tomas Soucek’s opener five minutes into the second period, before Benjamin Sesko levelled matters in stoppage time.
Having watched Chelsea drop points late on at home to Burnley, United have the chance to move three points clear in the race for fourth place with a win in Monday’s upcoming assignment.
However, the away side are winless in their last three meetings with the hosts, though their recent record at Goodison Park makes for good reading with two wins and a draw from the last three visits.
Everton saw their four-game unbeaten run end against Bournemouth last time out, despite taking the lead just shy of half time through Iliman Ndiaye.
A disastrous second half saw David Moyes’s side concede twice in three minutes to Rayan and Amine Adli before Jake O’Brien’s red card all but quashed any hopes of a comeback.
Still, it has been a bright campaign so far for the Toffees, who are ninth in the table, three points shy of seventh-placed Brentford with a game in hand.
Much of Everton’s European ambitions will depend on whether they can get themselves back on track in front of their fans, who have not seen their team win a home game since December 6.
Team news
Jake O’Brien is suspended for Everton, opening the door for Nathan Patterson to feature at right-back.
Jack Grealish has missed his side’s last four matches with a foot issue and remains sidelined.
Patrick Dorgu is nursing a thigh issue he picked up back in January, while Matthijs de Ligt is yet to fully recuperate from a back problem.
Mason Mount has been missing in recent weeks but is nearing a return to action.
Everton Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong; Barry
Manchester United Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Shaw, Martinez, Maguire, Dalot; Mainoo, Casemiro; Cunha, Fernandes, Diallo; Mbeumo
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Manchester United
