– Freyr Alexandersson har i sin tid som hovedtrener vært en hardtarbeidende, karismatisk og engasjert trener som har forstått hvor viktig Brann er for Bergen og alle som er glade i klubben, skriver Brann i en uttalelse.
Islendingen ble presentert som Branns trener i 13. januar 2025 og hadde kontrakt fram til 2027.
I sin første sesong endte Brann på 4.-plass i Eliteserien. Han tok også klubben til Europaligaen der de også gikk videre til ligafasen.
Denne sesongen har det gått langt tregere i serien. Sist fredag ble det 1-2-tap hjemme i Bergen for Sarpsborg, og etter 12 spilte kamper har de samlet seg bare 13 poeng. Det plasserer dem på 11.-plass på tabellen.
