Halland Johannessen ble satt i front med hjelp av Uno-X-kamerat Torstein Træen og øynet en knallsterk seier, men det gikk ikke i kamp mot sykkelsportens aller største navn. Han ble til slutt nummer seks.
På slutten fikk Del Toro noen meter, og bak hadde Pogacar kontroll på at Jonas Vingegaard ikke kunne passere ham og snyte lagkameraten for seieren. UAE-laget jublet vilt.
Etappen var på 168,5 kilometer og gikk fra Tarragona til Barcelona. Uno-X-rytter Jonas Abrahamsen forsøkte seg tidlig å gå i brudd, men det fikk ikke gå.
