تواجه كولومبيا اليوم.. مشاركة غير مسبوقة لأوزبكستان

تبدأ أوزبكستان مشاركتها الأولى في النهائيات بتحد كبير في مكسيكو حيث تواجه كولومبيا الساعية لإثبات قيمتها بعد غيابها عن نسخة 2022 في قطر.بعد ست مشاركات متتالية في الأدوار الإقصائية لكأس آسيا، حصلت أوزبكستان أخيرا على فرصة لقياس نفسها مع نخبة العالم بفضل مشوار مميز في التصفيات (10 انتصارات، 5 تعادلات، خسارة واحدة).
ولم تستقبل شباك المنتخب سوى سبعة أهداف في آخر عشر مباريات له في التصفيات، ومنذ ضمان بطاقة التأهل، أسندت «الذئاب البيضاء» المهمة إلى فابيو كانافارو، بطل العالم 2006 مع إيطاليا.
وقاد كانافارو أوزبكستان في مباراتين وديتين تحضيريتين انتهتا بهزيمتين أمام كندا (0-2) وهولندا (1-2)، لكن الأداء فيهما شكل دافعا لتعزيز الإيمان بإمكانية تحقيق مفاجأة.
من جهتها، وبعدما أنهت كولومبيا تصفيات أميركا الجنوبية ثالثة مع تسجيل 28 هدفا، تعود إلى النهائيات للمرة الأولى منذ 2018.
وكان منتخب «لوس كافيتيروس» بلغ الأدوار الإقصائية آنذاك، كما فعل في 2014، عقب صدارة المجموعة في النسختين، وكان مدربه الحالي الأرجنتيني نستور لورنسو مساعدا للمدرب في النسختين.
وتبدو كولومبيا، وصيفة كوبا أمريكا 2024، مستعدة للتألق مجددا معوّلة على جناح بايرن ميونيخ الالماني لويس دياس، وصيف هدافي تصفيات كونميبول (7 أهداف بفارق هدف واحد خلف ميسي) وصاحب 49 مساهمة تهديفية مع العملاق البافاري هذا الموسم (26 هدفا و23 تمريرة حاسمة) في مختلف المسابقات.



البرتغال تستهل مشوارها بملاقاة الكونغو

تستهل البرتغال محاولة جديدة للتتويج بلقب كأس العالم، عندما تواجه اليوم في هيوستن جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية في أول ظهور للأخيرة في العرس العالمي منذ 52 عاما ضمن منافسات المجموعة 11.
تعتبر البرتغال كالعادة بين أبرز المرشحين للذهاب بعيدا، وهو أمر غير مفاجئ بالنظر إلى ترسانتها ونتائجها اللافتة حيث خسرت مرة واحدة فقط من آخر 13 مباراة (10 انتصارات، تعادلان)، كما انهت استعداداتها للنهائيات بفوز كبير على أرمينيا 9-1 في التصفيات.
لكن نقل هذا التألق إلى الساحة العالمية يظل تحديا، إذ لم تبلغ البرتغال نصف النهائي سوى مرة واحدة منذ 1966، وغالبا ما كلفتها بداياتها المتعثرة الكثير في النسخ الأخيرة، حيث لم تحقق سوى فوز واحد في آخر أربع مباريات افتتاحية في المونديال (تعادلان وخسارة).
ويشارك كريستيانو رونالدو الذي لا يكلّ ولا يملَ، للمرة الاخيرة في العرس العالمي بالنظر الى عمره (41 عاما).
ويدخل رونالدو، نسخة 2026 بصفته اللاعب الوحيد الذي سجل في خمس نسخ مختلفة من كأس العالم.
في المقابل، تعود الكونغو الديموقراطية للمرة الأولى منذ 1974، عندما كانت تشارك تحت اسم زائير وخسرت آنذاك مبارياتها الثلاث من دون تسجيل أي هدف، مع تلقي 14 هدفا. ولم تكن تحضيرات رجال المدرب الفرنسي سيباستيان دوسابر مثالية، إذ فرض تفشي قاتل لفيروس إيبولا قيودا على تنقل مشجعيهم.



قمة واعدة بين إنجلترا وكرواتيا

تبدأ إنجلترا سعيها لوضع حدّ لصيام دام 60 عاما عن الألقاب في تكساس، بمواجهة واعدة وثأرية ضد كرواتيا ثالثة النسخة الاخيرة. وأقصت كرواتيا إنجلترا من نصف نهائي نسخة 2018، لكنها حققت ذلك في انتصارها الوحيد خلال آخر ست مواجهات بين المنتخبين (تعادل واحد وأربع هزائم).
وتدخل إنجلترا البطولة وسط ضغوط وتوقعات كبيرة، إذ تطمح إلى التتويج بأول لقب دولي منذ عام 1966 عندما ظفرت بلقبها الوحيد في كأس العالم، وتأمل في أن يكون مدربها الألماني توماس توخل الرجل المناسب لتحقيق ذلك. وأثار تعيين مدرب ألماني جدلا واسعا، كما كانت خياراته محل نقاش بسبب استبعاده عددا من الركائز الأساسية.
لكن الانتصارين اللذين حققهما المنتخب في مباراتين وديتين قبل البطولة، من دون استقبال أي هدف، يشيران إلى أنه ربما وجد التوازن المطلوب.
وبفضل الزخم الإيجابي بعد تصفيات مثالية لم يتلقَّ خلالها أي هدف، يستطيع الإنجليز الاعتماد أيضا على سجلهم، إذ لم يخسروا سوى مرة واحدة في آخر ثماني مباريات افتتاحية في المونديال (4 انتصارات و3 تعادلات).
أما كرواتيا، فكان مشوارها نحو النهائيات سهلا أيضا، إذ لم تتعرض لأي خسارة في التصفيات (7 انتصارات وتعادل)، لكنها سجلت نتائج متباينة في أربع مباريات ودية لاحقا (فوزان وخسارتان).
كما أن استقبالها لأهداف في كل هذه المباريات يكشف بعض الهشاشة الدفاعية، وهو أمر مقلق.



غانا تواجه بنما بطموح الفوز

يفتتح منتخبا غانا وبنما ضمن المجموعة 12 مشوارهما في تورونتو، وهما يدركان أن تحقيق نتيجة إيجابية أمر حاسم، نظرا لتواجدهما في مجموعة إنجلترا وكرواتيا.
سيصبح البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش ثالث مدرب فقط يقود منتخبات في خمس نسخ من كأس العالم، عندما يستعد لقيادة غانا في مشاركتها الخامسة.
من جانبها، تأهلت بنما إلى كأس العالم للمرة الثانية، بعدما كانت واحدة من منتخبين فقط لم يتعرضا لأي خسارة في تصفيات كونكاكاف 2026 (سبعة انتصارات وثلاثة تعادلات).
وكانت مشاركتها الوحيدة السابقة في 2018 كارثية، إذ خسرت مبارياتها الثلاث في دور المجموعات واستقبلت أكبر عدد من الأهداف في البطولة (11).
غير أن «لوس كاناليروس» يبدون فريقا مختلفا تحت قيادة توماس كريستيانسن، بعدما خسروا مباراتين فقط من آخر 13 مباراة (خمسة انتصارات وستة تعادلات)، ومع كون الهزيمتين جاءتا أمام البرازيل والمكسيك، يمكنهم الاعتقاد بقدرتهم على منافسة معظم المنتخبات. betsport.cv

Zurich: FIFA's Referees Committee has appointed Qatari referee Khamis Al Marri as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the Portugal vs. DR Congo match, scheduled for Wednesday at Houston Stadium in the United States as part of Group 11 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match will be officiated by a Qatari refereeing team led by international referee Abdulrahman Al Jassim, reflecting the continued confidence in Qatari refereeing expertise on the global stage.

According to the announced appointments, Al Jassim will serve as referee, assisted by Taleb Salem Al Marri and Saoud Ahmed.

South Africa's Abongile Tom has been named fourth official, with Zakhele Siwela serving as reserve assistant referee, while Khamis Al Marri will oversee VAR duties.

The appointment extends the strong presence of Qatari referees at major international tournaments following a series of successful appearances at FIFA World Cups, AFC Asian Cups, and other continental and international competitions.

Doha, Qatar: England and Croatia have crossed paths before on football’s biggest stage, and eight years after one of the most memorable nights in recent World Cup history, they meet again to open their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign.

When the two European sides walk onto the pitch at Dallas Stadium today, they will not simply be beginning another tournament. For England, it is another opportunity to finally end a wait for major international silverware that stretches back to 1966. For Croatia, it is another chance to prove that their remarkable World Cup success is no coincidence.

Memories of Moscow in 2018 remain impossible to ignore. England looked destined for a first World Cup final in 52 years when Kieran Trippier curled home an early free-kick in the semi-final against Croatia. But the momentum gradually shifted as Ivan Perisic brought Croatia level, before Mario Mandzukic’s extra-time winner sent them into their first-ever World Cup final.

That defeat ultimately became a turning point rather than a setback for England. Since then, the Three Lions have established themselves as regular contenders, reaching consecutive European Championship finals and the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. Yet despite consistently going deep into tournaments, the elusive trophy remains out of reach.

Thomas Tuchel is now tasked with ending six decades of frustration. The German arrives with an impressive track record, having won league titles across Europe and guided Chelsea to UEFA Champions League glory.Croatia’s midfielder Luka Modric attends a training session.

England captain and all-time leading scorer Harry Kane remains the focal point of their attack, but his role now extends far beyond simply finding the back of the net. A nation of fewer than four million people, Croatia have become one of the most consistent World Cup performers of the modern era. Runners-up in Russia in 2018 and third-place finishers in Qatar four years later, they are one of only two countries to win medals at each of the last two World Cups.

Yet questions continue to surround Zlatko Dalic’s side, particularly regarding the age of some of their key players.

At 40, Luka Modric remains the heartbeat of Croatia’s national team and continues to dictate matches with intelligence rather than speed. Alongside Mateo Kovacic, he will once again be tasked with controlling the tempo and frustrating England’s energetic midfield.

The battle in the centre of the pitch could ultimately define the contest. Declan Rice and Bellingham will look to impose England’s physicality and intensity, while Modric and Kovacic will attempt to slow the game down and force England to be patient.

With Ghana and Panama completing Group L, neither side can afford an early stumble. A victory would immediately place one foot in the knockout stages and provide crucial breathing space ahead of two potentially tricky fixtures.

History offers England a slight advantage. The two nations have met 9 times, with England winning five, Croatia three and one ending in a draw. Yet their recent encounters have often been tightly contested.

In Dallas, two familiar opponents meet once more, each carrying unfinished ambitions and aware that there is little room for error. For England, it is another chance to chase history. For Croatia, it is another opportunity to extend an extraordinary era. Whatever the outcome, the World Cup begins here for both England and Croatia.

Santa Clara, United States: Austria were given a scare by World Cup debutants Jordan on Tuesday before securing a 3-1 win rounded off by a penalty in added time from veteran forward Marko Arnautovic.

The Austrians went ahead at Levi's Stadium near San Francisco when Romano Schmid produced a brilliant opening goal, smashing in a shot from distance.

Jordan never stopped chasing the game and Ali Olwan's glancing header nearly put them level before he scored the first World Cup goal in his country's history -- and it was worth the wait.

He cut in and directed a superb right-footed shot Austria 'keeper past Alexander Schlager and off the post.

But Austria regained the lead in the 76th minute thanks to an own goal from Yazan al-Arab before 37-year-old former West Ham man Arnautovic added a stoppage-time penalty to make the game safe.
