أربيلوا سيكون “سعيدا” في حال عودة مورينيو إلى ريال مدريد الموسم المقبل

قال مدرب ريال مدريد الإسباني ألفارو أربيلوا السبت إنه سيكون سعيدا في حال تولي البرتغالي جوزيه مورينيو خلافته وقيادة النادي في الموسم المقبل. ipltable.lol

وارتبط اسم المدرب البرتغالي المخضرم، الذي قاد ريال مدريد بين عامي 2010 و2013 ودخل آنذاك في صدامات شهيرة مع برشلونة بقيادة مدربه بيب غوارديولا، بقوة بالعودة إلى مقعد التدريب في ملعب سانتياغو برنابيو.

ويشرف مورينيو حاليا على تدريب بنفيكا، ويُعد اختياره مجددا خطوة محفوفة بالمخاطر من قبل رئيس النادي فلورنتينو بيريس، بعد أن أنهى “لوس بلانكوس” موسما ثانيا تواليا من دون التتويج بأي لقب كبير.

وقال أربيلوا للصحافيين: “بالنسبة لي، كلاعب سابق في (ريال) مدريد وكمشجع لمدريد، جوزيه مورينيو هو الرقم واحد. إنه واحد منا”.

وأضاف: “إذا عاد الموسم المقبل، سأكون سعيدا جدا برؤيته يعود إلى بيته”.

وكان أربيلوا قد تولى المهمة خلفا لشابي ألونسو في كانون الثاني/يناير، لكنه فشل في إنقاذ موسم صعب لريال مدريد.

وانتقد النجم الفرنسي كيليان مبابي أربيلوا بعد جلوسه على مقاعد البدلاء منتصف الأسبوع خلال فوز ريال مدريد على ريال أوفييدو.

وكان مبابي قد عاد من إصابة في الفخذ أبعدته عن مواجهة “الكلاسيكو” نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، حين حسم برشلونة لقب الدوري الإسباني على حساب ريال مدريد.

وقال أربيلوا: “صادفته للتو وقلت له أن يهدأ. أتفهم أن مثل هذه الأمور تتصدر العناوين، لكنها في الواقع أكثر طبيعية مما يظن الناس”.

وتابع: “كنت لاعبا من قبل، وأعرف ما يمكن أن يشعر به اللاعبون في مثل هذه المواقف، اللعب باستمرار، ثم اللعب أقل أو عدم اللعب إطلاقا”.

وأضاف: “أتفهم تماما أن كيليان لم يكن سعيدا بعدم مشاركته الخميس، بل يعجبني ذلك”.

وختم قائلا: “لن أفهم الأمر لو لم يكن يرغب في اللعب. علاقتي به ما زالت كما هي”.

Dhoa Qatar: Abderrahman Samba and Bassem Hemeida claimed another Qatar one-two in the men’s 400m hurdles as the hosts enjoyed another day of strong performances to strengthen their grip on top spot at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 yesterday.

With more medals coming in athletics, shooting, table tennis and snooker, the home contingent raised their tally to 96, including 36 gold, 32 silver and 28 bronze medals.

Saudi Arabia remained second with 21 gold, 16 silver and as many bronze medals, while Bahrain followed in third with 18 gold, 17 silver and 10 bronze.

At Qatar Sports Club, Samba and Hemeida, who have delivered several Qatari one-two finishes, including at the 2023 Asian Games and last year’s Asian Athletics Championships, once again dominated the track.

Samba clinched gold in 48.85 seconds, while Hemeida followed in 49.28.

UAE’s Muath Abdalla took bronze in 58.04.

Qatar’s Sara Ali added another gold in the women’s 400m hurdles, clocking 1:01.94, ahead of UAE’s Mahra Enqelya and Bahrain’s Oluwakemi Adekoya, who claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Qatar also earned two athletics silvers yesterday, with Samar Mansouri finishing runner-up in the women’s triple jump behind Kuwait’s Aisha Alkhedher.

The hosts also finished second in the mixed 4x400m relay in 3:23.37, with Bahrain taking gold in 3:21.44.

Bassem Hemeida secured the silver medal in the men's 400 metres hurdles.

The Al Annabi athletics team has now collected 10 gold, nine silver and six bronze medals at the Games so far.

Shooters continue dominant form

Meanwhile, Qatari shooters maintained their fine form, adding more medals at Lusail Shooting Range yesterday.

Star shooters Rashid Saleh Al Athba and Reem Al Sharshani teamed up to win the mixed skeet team event, with Kuwait’s Saud Al Kandari and Afrah Al

Mohammad taking bronze, and Bahrain’s Tamer Al Watae and Maryam Al Aasam taking bronze.

Abdullah Al Sunaidi and Al Maha Al Ali won the mixed 10m air rifle event with a score of 495.4 after edging Oman’s Salem Al Nabi and Al Anoud Al Khalili, who took silver with 494.7.

UAE’s Fatima Al Suwaidi and Salem Al Yamahi earned bronze medal.

Yesterday’s success takes Qatar’s shooting team’s medal tally to 11, including five gold, one silver and five bronze medals.

At Aspire Dome, Qatar’s table tennis players secured one gold and a bronze medal in the mixed doubles category.

The pair of Mohammed Abdulwahab and Aya Mohammed clinched the gold medal after defeating UAE’s Ali Al Hawai and Noura Al Mazmi 3-0 in the final.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Abdullah Abdulwahab and Mariam Ali took the bronze medal after beating Bahrain’s Rashid Khalid Sanad and Rayan Emad 3-0 in the third-place playoff.

The table tennis competition continues with the third-place matches in the men’s and women’s singles, as well as the men’s doubles category, followed by an all-Saudi men’s singles final.

The women’s singles final will feature Qatar’s Aya Mohammed against Mariam Ali, while the men’s doubles final will see Qatar’s Mohammed Abdulwahab and Abdullah Abdulwahab take on Saudi Arabia’s Ali Al Khudrawi and Abdulaziz Boushalibi.

Al-Obaidli claims snooker silver

Ali Al Obaidli secured the silver medal in the men’s 6-red snooker singles at the billiards and snooker competitions of the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026, after a narrow 3-4 defeat in final against Kuwait’s Ammar Taqi at the Qatar Billiards & Snooker Federation Hall.

The billiards and snooker programme features 10 events - five in billiards and five in snooker - with Qatar represented by Ali Al Obaidli, Muhanna Al Obaidli, Mansour Al Obaidli, Ahmed Saif, Bashar Hussein, Mishal Turki Al Ali, and Abdul Latif Al Fawal.

Victory in volleyball opener

Meanwhile, Qatar volleyball team opened its campaign blanking the UAE 3-0 at Aspire Women’s Sports Hall.

Qatar dominated the match winning the first set 25-17 before wrapping up the match with 25-13, and 25-13 wins.

In the other match, Bahrain defeated Oman 3-0. Qatar will take on Oman at 6:30 PM today.

At Aspire Dome, Qatar men’s padel team also started their campaign on a winning note defeating Saudi Arabia 3-0.

Rashed Nawaf and Mishari Nawaf opened proceedings with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win, while Khalid Saadoun and Issa Shanan followed up with a 7-6, 6-4 victory in the doubles match. Mohammed Saadoun and Hassan Wali completed the sweep with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win in the third rubber.

Qatar will face Kuwait in its second match today.

Qatar moved to the top of the handball standings after a dominant 34-19 win over Kuwait, controlling the match from start to finish and leading 19-8 at half-time.

The six teams have a rest day today before action resumes tomorrow, with Kuwait facing the UAE and Bahrain meeting Saudi Arabia.

Tuesday will see Saudi Arabia play Kuwait, followed by Qatar’s highly anticipated clash with Bahrain.

وبهذا التتويج رفع (مانشتسر سيتي) حصيلته إلى الكأس الثامنة في تاريخه علما ان آخر مرة فاز بها كانت في موسم (2022-2023).

يذكر ان (تشيلسي) فاز هو الآخر بكأس الاتحاد في ثماني مناسبات آخرها في موسم (2017-2018).

Riyadh: Deniz Hummet’s strike secured Gamba Osaka a stunning 1-0 win over Al Nassr Club in the final of the AFC Champions League (ACL) Two 2025/26 at the King Saud University Stadium Saturday.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr just could not find a way past Gamba’s defence as the Japanese side tasted continental glory for the first time since lifting the AFC Champions League trophy in 2008.

Defeat meant heartbreak for Al Nassr, who were determined to be the first side from Saudi Arabia to win the AFC Champions League Two.

Not surprisingly, Al Nassr settled the quicker and after some early tentative forays, had their first opportunity in the eighth minute with Sadio Mane laying the ball for Abdulrahman Ghareeb but the midfielder’s shot lacked sting and was easily saved by Gamba custodian Rui Araki.

Al Nassr continued to dictate terms with Joao Felix and Inigo Martinez both making attempts but the 18-year-old Araki was equal to their efforts.

It was then the turn of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mane to miss in quick succession, much to the dismay of their fans.

That turned into disbelief in the 30th minute when Gamba took the lead with their first attempt, Hummet turning nicely to latch on to Issam Jebali’s pass before sending his shot into the bottom right corner. The goal galvanised Al Nassr into action but wayward finishing meant Gamba went into the break with their noses in front.

The onus was on Al Nassr to find their way back but despite laying siege on the Gamba goalmouth, the Saudi Pro League side failed to create clear opportunities in the opening minutes.

Al Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus sent on Kingsley Coman and Salem Al Najdi in an attempt to inject more attacking threat and Mane had their first chance of the second half in the 72nd minute with an effort from just outside the box but Araki made a comfortable safe.

Ronaldo had a clear sight on goal in the 86th minute but - not for the first time on the night - Gamba defended well with Genta Miura on this occasion sticking his foot out to deflect the ball out for a corner.

Rome: Jannik Sinner will face Casper Ruud in the men's final of the Italian Open after finishing off Daniil Medvedev in Saturday's closing chapter of an enthralling last-four clash, which was paused overnight due to rain in Rome.

The world number one could claim a record-extending sixth Masters 1000 title on Sunday thanks to a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win which had almost everything over the course of its two-and-a-half hours.

Sinner had to have treatment on his right thigh and even vomited during Friday night's leg of the semi-final as Medvedev gave the Italian by far his toughest test of the tournament.

But he looked in much better spirits before the restart as he joked and played football with his coaching team during his warm-up in the bowels of the centre court arena, just as warm spring sunshine started to shine after a few days of volatile weather.

"It was a different challenge, a tough challenge to be honest," said Sinner.

"During the night usually I never struggle to sleep, but this night was not easy because when you're on the third set, you know I'm nearly nearly done but you still have to show up again, and you never know what's happening because It's basically a new start of a match. There are nerves."

The match was scheduled to restart at at 3.00pm local time (1300GMT) but was again delayed by an hour both due to more rain and the men's doubles semi-final, won by Sinner's compatriots Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori.

A 4-2 lead in the third set for Sinner when play was stopped was too much for Medvedev to overcome, and the 24-year-old sealed his 33rd straight win in Masters 1000 tournaments.

Medvedev was at advantage in game seven of the third set, which he immediately won, but Sinner won the next game on his service to love and closed out the match in less than 20 minutes.

Ruud gets a chance for revenge for a brutal hammering against Sinner here last year after dismantling Luciano Darderi 6-1, 6-1 on Saturday, another match interrupted by heavy rain.

The Norwegian has not won a single set in any of his four matches with Sinner and was destroyed 6-0, 6-1 in the 2025 last eight in one of the most one-sided matches ever seen at the Foro Italico.

"I think he's playing much, much better tennis right now, so its going to be very tough," said Sinner.

"Every match every week, even if you play with the same player week after week. It's completely different, so I'm just happy to stand again here in the final."

Later Coco Gauff will attempt to claim her first Rome title in the women's final against Elina Svitolina.

American star Gauff lost to Jasmine Paolini in the last year's final but could go one better ahead of her Roland Garros title defence.
