FC Barcelona made only one first-team signing in January, but strengthened the ranks of the reserve team, Barça Atletic, with multiple new acquisitions.
Players like Joaquin Delgado, Hamza Abdelkarim, Juwensley Onstein, and Patricio Pacifico, among others, arrived amid some injury issues and a few departures from the squad.
But with the transfer window closed, manager Juliano Belletti is still thinly stretched in attack, given the absence of players like Dani Rodriguez, Oscar Gistau, and Sama Namako through injuries.
Jon Cabo offered trial
As such, SPORT reports that Barcelona have taken advantage of the availability of a free agent to strengthen the attack of the reserve team, with no new permanent or loan signings allowed outside the transfer window.
That player is Jon Cabo, who featured for Lugo last season and has recently been training with Barakaldo.
The winger began training this Wednesday with Belletti’s side and will undergo a trial period. If he impresses, he will sign until the end of the season to strengthen the wing position.

The 25-year-old Basque forward, who developed in Athletic Club’s academy, is currently without a contract and can sign for any club without legal restrictions.
Cabo last played competitively on 4 May 2025 for Lugo, but subsequently suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training and has since been working on his recovery without being tied to any club.
Notably, his final appearance for Lugo came against Barça Atletic as he started as a left-winger for the Galician side in a 0-4 defeat.
Cabo is capable of operating on the right wing, as an attacking midfielder or even as a centre-forward. During his three seasons with Athletic’s reserve team, he trained with the first team and also made two appearances in friendly matches under Ernesto Valverde.
It remains to be seen whether Belletti considers him fit and suitable to contribute in the push for promotion to Primera RFEF.
