The window to place the franchise tag on players has arrived, yet the first day proved to be uneventful. The Cowboys did not use it on wide receiver George Pickens, giving hope to many that a long-term deal could be worked out between the two sides.Doing so would avoid a drama-filled offseason Dallas fans have been accustomed to enduring, but there's plenty of time for the tag to still happen.
The team will introduce new defensive coordinator Christian Parker to the Dallas media on Tuesday, providing clues as to how the team will approach free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft. Connecting the available names to Parker has already begun and the top of the list includes a division rival.
While the league is consumed by everything Pickens, Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey is set to hit restricted free agency. Placing a second-round tender for Aubrey may not be enough to deter a few teams who could make a move for one of the leagues most dynamic kickers.
Around the NFL, the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks have a dilemma on their hands regarding their roster as reports suggest running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker will not be tagged by the team. The same may hold true for Bucs receiver Mike Evans who plans to test the market as well. WR Tyreek Hill will get an early jump on the festivities but he must deal with a personal matter while Rams wideout Robert Woods has called it a career.
