ILION – Hunter Ough had 12 kills, seven blocks, six digs and two aces, but No. 1 seed Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young lost in four sets to No. 3 seed Tully, 25-22, 14-25, 20-25, 22-25, in the Section III Class D volleyball finals on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Central Valley Academy.
The Black Knights took a lead in the first two sets.
In the first, RS/ODY rallied from 5-9 to a tie at 11. The team built a small lead midway through the set and held on for the win.
The second set started with a 5-1 Tully lead and led to the big win by the Knights.
The third set was the tightest of the match, with ties at 1, 2, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 before Ella Lund served the Black Knights to a 20-15 lead. RS/ODY rallied to tie at 20, but Ryland Walkup served Tully to the win.
The fourth set was tight throughout, and the teams were tied at 18, before Tully broke away for the win.
Maddy Lund had 43 digs, Anna Lund had 36 digs and 29 assists, and Ella Lund had 11 kills, 11 digs and seven blocks for Tully (18-3).
For RS/ODY: Sophia Spencer had 19 digs, 30 assists and two aces. Jocelyn Bosc had 10 kills and 15 digs. Amber Connolly had five kills and 11 digs. Natalie Dumond had 18 digs.
It was the first trip to the volleyball section finals for Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young, which won a Center State Conference Division III title and finished the season at 16-2.

Schenevus 55, Worcester 49
Allen Osborne scored a game-high 16 points as No. 3 seeded Schenevus beat No. 4 Worcester in a Tri-Valley League consolation game Friday, Feb. 13.
Conner Land scored 14 points for the Wolverines, which also got 11 points from Derek Land and eight points from Liam Serdy.
Ethan Reed scored 14 points for the Dragons, which also got 10 points from Sawyer Bridger and eight points from Lucien Kortekaas.
Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young 57, Cherry Valley-Springfield 50
Finn Dibble scored a game-high 26 points as the No. 8 seeded Eagles beat the No. 7 seeded Patriots in a TVL playoff game Friday in Cherry Valley.
Aiden Bosc scored 24 points to lead CV-S, which also got 11 points from Caden Laymon.
Shane Dunckel scored 16 points for RS/ODY, which also got nine points from Brayden Schultz.
Delaware Academy 59, Vestal 38
Teddy Kelsh scored a game-high 20 points as Delaware Academy won a non-league game Friday at Vestal.
The Bulldogs trailed at halftime 26-25 but held Vestal to 12 points in the second half.
Lucas Nealis scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds for Delaware Academy, which also got 11 points from John Wilson and eight points from Ben Schnabel.
Alex Sculley scored 11 points to lead Vestal.
Delaware Academy (15-3), the No. 2 seed in the Midstate Athletic Conference playoffs, will host No. 3 Walton/Downsville at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Hunter-Tannersville 40, Margaretville 38
Blake Ferrell’s game winner with 13 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter gave No. 6 seeded H-T a Delaware League playoff win at home Friday over No. 7 Margaretville.
Ferrell scored seven points for H-T, which was led by 14 points from Donovan Garcia and 10 points and 13 rebounds from Chase Zimmer.
Anthony Maggio scored 17 points to lead the Blue Devils, which also got 12 points from Thomas Stratton.
Gilboa-Conesville/Roxbury 46, Charlotte Valley 32
Cody Ciaravino scored a team-high 12 points and had 14 rebounds to lead No. 3 seed G-C/R to a Delaware League win over No. 4 seeded Charlotte Valley on Friday in Gilboa.
Cole Whitbeck scored 14 points to lead the Wildcats, which also got 10 points from Simon Cowles.
Blake Albano scored 10 points for G-C/R, which also got nine points from Garrison Ross and eight points from Gabe Allen.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Clinton 57, Cooperstown 33
Lanie Nelen scored a team-high 14 points, but Cooperstown lost a Center State Conference non-division game to Division I champion Clinton on the road Friday.
The Comets led at halftime, 27-21, and then held the Hawkeyes to 12 points in the second half.
Devyn Roy led all scorers with 24 points for Clinton (13-6).
Emma Johnson scored 10 points for the Hawkeyes, which also got six points from Deanna Wolfe.
Cooperstown (5-15) awaits the Section III Class C playoff brackets.
Afton 43, Deposit/Hancock 40
Appalonia Bushaw scored 17 points to lead the No. 10 seeded Afton to a home win in the Midstate Athletic Conference playoffs over No. 9 D/H on Friday.
Ivy Tice scored 15 points to lead D/H, which also got 12 points from Olivia Esolen.
Rylee Rupakus scored 14 points for the Crimson Knights.
