The regular seasons are winding down for high school winter sports, with boys and girls teams already learning their postseason opponents. The Muskingum Valley League Wrestling Tournament is coming this weekend.
In the meantime, here is another round of nominees for Times Recorder Boys Athlete of the Week nominees for Feb. 9-15:
- Tavin Bennett, West M basketball — Team-best 20 points in 70-68 loss to Maysville
- Ryan Lamonica, Tri-Valley basketball — 25 points, 13 rebounds, hit 7 of 11 field goals in 58-54 win vs. Sheridan
- Carsen Huck, Morgan basketball — Career-high 25 points vs. Crooksville
- Chase Shriner, New Lex wrestling — Three wins, including a match-clincher against West Geagua, at D-II state duals
- Gator Nichols, Maysville basketball — Became school’s all-time leading scorer in boys basketball, scored 24 points with game-winning basket in 70-68 win against West M
- Cooper Briggs, John Glenn basketball — Hit five 3s in 21-point performance during 76-39 win vs. Morgan
- Owen Lambert, Rosecrans basketball — Scored 23 points in Bishops' 61-53 vs. Fairfield Christian that sealed the outright MSL-Cardinal title
- Ryan Dorsey, Philo wrestling — Won 138-pound title at Wellston Invitational
- Trio Ladd, Zanesville wrestling — Claimed the LCL title at 215 pounds
- Kash Murphy, Coshocton basketball — Scored 11 points with 13 rebounds in 59-52 win vs. New Lex
