Huge boost for Flick as Barcelona midfielder set to return against Levante

Huge boost for Flick as Barcelona midfielder set to return against Levante

Barcelona could soon welcome back one of their most influential players, with midfielder Pedri closing in on a return after his recent injury setback.

The Spanish international has been working hard to return, and the latest reports suggest that his comeback is now just around the corner.

According to information shared by Javier Miguel in AS, the plan is for Pedri to receive medical clearance on Sunday, provided there are no last-minute problems.

If everything goes as expected, the midfielder could feature for a few minutes against Levante, marking his return to competitive action after weeks on the sidelines.

The timing of this potential comeback is important for Hansi Flick. With Raphinha already back in the squad, Pedri is now the final missing piece in what many consider the backbone of Barcelona’s starting eleven.

What happened to Pedri?

Pedri picked up his injury during Barcelona’s 4-2 Champions League victory away at Slavia Prague.

The initial diagnosis suggested that he would be out for roughly a month, which forced him to sit out a demanding stretch of matches across competitions.

During this period, Barcelona had to cope without him in games against Real Oviedo, Copenhagen, Elche, Albacete, Mallorca, and Atletico Madrid.

Despite the worrying nature of the injury at first, his recovery has moved at a faster pace than expected.

In fact, earlier this month, the midfielder was already back on the training pitch, working on the grass with the ball at his feet.

Massive boost for Barcelona

Barcelona have also had to deal with other injury concerns, as Marcus Rashford, Gavi, and Andreas Christensen are all currently unavailable, which has reduced the manager’s options in key areas of the pitch.

In that context, even a short appearance from Pedri against Levante would represent a major boost for the squad.

As things stand, the idea is for the Spanish midfielder to make his comeback in the Levante match.

If the plan goes ahead, the fans could witness the return of one of the team’s most important players.
