National League North strugglers Hereford FC have appointed Aaron Downes as first-team manager until the end of the season.
Downes replaces Paul Caddis, who was sacked last week with the Bulls next to bottom and 11 points from safety.
The 40-year-old Australian made more than 350 senior appearances in a 15-year playing career for Chesterfield, Bristol Rovers, Torquay United and Cheltenham Town, before moving into coaching with Torquay in 2018.
He helped the Gulls avoid relegation from National League South in a spell as interim boss.
Downes then became assistant manager to Mike Flynn at League Two side Cheltenham Town in June 2024 but left last September.
"After several years as an assistant manager, I have been waiting for the right opportunity to become a number one and as soon as the role at Hereford FC became available, I expressed a strong interest," Downes told the club website.
